Horatio R. Palmer wrote the hymn "Yield Not to Temptation," but Speaker A created a new melody for their congregation because the original didn't work musically. Speaker B sings the revised version, which urges listeners to resist temptation, trust Jesus, and promises a crown for the faithful.

This is the song from the hymnal "Yield Not to Temptation" by Horatio R. Palmer. I like the lyrics a lot, but I'm not a big fan of the original music, so I did some rewriting, and this is what I came up with for use at our congregation.
Temptation for yielding is sin. Each victory will help you some other to win. Fight manfully onward, young passion servants. Love you. Look ever to Jesus. He'll carry you through. Evil companions, bad language, disdain. God's name hold in reverence, nor take it in vain. And be thoughtful and earnest, kind. Hearted and true, look ever to Jesus. He'll carry you through. Yeah! To him. That overcometh, God giveth a crown. Through faith we shall conquer, though often cast down. He who is our Savior, our strength will renew. Give it to Jesus, he'll carry you through. Why don't you ask the Savior to help you, comfort, strengthen, and keep you. He is willing to make you, he will carry you through.
