Fun Reading Session With My Son | Riddhi Deorah

Riddhi Deorah reads storybooks to her son Rajvir and asks him questions about what he's hearing. It's a casual look at how they learn together through stories.
Hi everyone. So today I have with me somebody very special. He's my son, Rajvir. Veer, you want to say hi?
Hi.
And this is my first proper YouTube video with him. And today we're going to do something fun. So I'm going to read three storybooks to him. And after reading one book, I'm going to ask him what he understood from the story. And. And he has to tell us whatever he can recollect from the story that I read to him. So Veer, you understand what I'm saying? I'm going to read and then you have to tell me what you understood. So are you ready? You want to do it? Challenge accepted. Yeah. Okay. Let's give a thumbs up. Okay. Done. Okay. So this first book is called Service with Kurunana. It's authored by Chidwan Mittal, Sarita Saraf. And pictures are by. It's illustrated by Debasmita Dasgupta. So, ready? There lived a saint, Guru Nanak who knew God lives in each and everything. In the sky, in the sea, in the lovely green tree and the bird that flies with her wings. He's in the sun and the moon, said Nanak. In Saturn and Jupiter as well. I see him in the twinkling of stars at night. Where he is not Osama do tell. He is in the rich and the poor, he added, in each heart he lives equally. He lives in the quiet and in the witty and looks out on all secretly. Serve with your body, also your mind. Serve any time, any place. Serve with your things. Feel the joy that it brings for its God that you serve in each case. Now tell me my friends, when the school bell rings and it's time for home, can you spare a minute or two? The teacher is tired from a long busy day. Can you say, I like to help you? You would like to help her? Can you help your buddy to solve this sum? Get him to smile once again. Your friend has no tiffin. So can you share yours and your colors, your eraser and pen. The ocean and rivers are calling out to you. Can you help clean up the water? Cities and forests are choking with pollution. Calling every son and daughter not for reward and not for the praise or gold stars pinned by your name. Each time you serve, each time you help. The joy within. Are you sleepy? The joy deep within is your aim. Let's serve each other in happy harmony. Let's all live together. One big family guru means a guide or mentor Learning to be of service. Did you like the book?
Yes.
Really liked it or liked it just little Yawning. But you were yawning. Why are you yawning then?
Because I was. I was little tired.
Real tired. Okay. Can you tell me what you understood? What is it that you remember? Can you tell us?
We should help our teacher when she's tired.
Okay.
We should clean the water. And if fish comes, we have to throw it back. We have to be kind. And we also have to help our friends.
Yeah. And what will you share with your friends? They were talking about sharing lots of things. What all will you share with your friends?
I will share everything that they don't have.
Everything? Yeah. And what else? It said something about God also. Where does God live?
Everything.
Everywhere. Really?
And everything.
Everything. Yeah.
And everywhere. Hearing God.
Air is also God. Who told you that?
Wind God.
Oh, yeah. Binka. Right. And what does Guru mean?
Guru means a old man.
Old man? No, that's not true.
It's a God.
No, it's like God, but not like an old man. Guru is somebody who will give your life direction. Will tell you what is the better thing to do so that you can get wherever you want to, little quickly. We will tell you that this is the better thing to do. Will help you decide what is the better thing to do. Okay. Right. You want me to read another book or no?
Yeah.
Which one? Okay, pick one. There's peace with Buddha and there's kindness with Mahavira. Which one? You want to try and read it on your own? Okay, I'll try. That's like my toy. Sorry, Mr. Page.
You always read this. Can you? You have to read the wrong word for me.
Okay. Mahavira, Mahavira.
Saint, Saint, Saint Lived long time ago he looked, looked deep within and come Came to.
Know, Came to know. No, you have to learn the spelling for it. And came to know. Okay, let me read it for you. Okay. Mahavira, a saint Lived a long time ago he looked deep within and came to know. All living things have an equal soul. A huge elephant or a tiny tadpole Gigantic things like big banyan trees or tiny pretty flowers swaying in the breeze. So said he, be kind to all Humongous or little or really, really Be kind, Be kind, be kind. Did you know there are some folks who sweep the path on which they walk we shan't hurt even ants they say they too have a right of way. Then there are those who will not eat chicken or lamb or any kind of meat they will not fish or will not shoot they eat only grains and lots of fruits to be kind. To be kind. To be kind. So now, my love, can you Tell me, are there ways that you can be kind? Very kind. Very, very kind. To ants and insects, birds and bees? To fish in rivers, plants and trees? To friends in school or mom at home? To the old man walking all alone? Look deep inside and you will find There are many, many ways of being kind. You are loving and sweet, good and true. So don't forget to be kind. To you being kind. So kind. So very kind. Okay, now your turn. Tell me what you understood.
I understood. We have to help plants. We have to help our friends. A mother. And. And have the old man walking alone.
Old man walking alone. Yes. And that was the same.
And we have to.
Your heart.
My heart?
