A 10-year-old describes how kids today are glued to phones, scrolling constantly and resisting when parents try to take devices away. Riddhi Deorah argues the shift from outdoor play to screens erodes imagination and confidence while fueling anxiety, even when kids have everything else they need.
What do kids your age do nowadays?
Our generation nowadays, they watch phone a lot and everything. It's like how people are alcoholic, they're phone-aholic. They don't move away from their phones. I've seen many kids, they scream at their parents to not take their phone or something away because they're so addicted to that channel, whatever they're watching.
This 10-year-old just said what we as adults keep avoiding. Today, childhood, instead of being nature-based, has become scroll-based. More consumption, less imagination. More validation and less confidence. Isliye aaj kal bachche jaldi boro jaate hain, anxious ho jaate hain aur restless rehte hain. Even if they have everything.
