Are you a mother who's always stressed? Are you someone who's struggling to sleep? If you said yes, then you must watch this video till the end. Because in this video I'm going to share with you. How does stress affect our health? I'm Hriti Devra, a certified parenting expert, founder of Easy Parenting Hub, a digital school helping thousands of mothers across the world.
So now let's understand, what is stress? Stress is nothing, but it is a.
Body'S way of reacting to an outside demand or challenge. Now, little bit of stress is not that bad because it actually helps us.
To meet deadlines and it also protects us in danger.
But too much stress is definitely not good.
So there are two types of stress which most of us experience.
One is acute stress and the other is chronic stress.
Now acute stress is something, it's like a stress that comes and it goes.
Away quickly, does not stay for a.
Very long period of time. And this is something that most of us are experiencing at some point. For example, you know, like if you're.
Driving a car and if you suddenly.
Press the brake, or if you're skiing.
Down a very ste slow or you.
Have a small fight with your husband, or if you have an exam to.
Appear for, or if you're going to.
Speak on the stage, all of this.
Would come under acute stress.
So this is not very bad. It can actually help you get more productive. However, chronic stress is stress that we have to be really careful of and we really need to be sure that we do not experience chronic stress. Chronic stress is stress that stays with us from for weeks and months and years and it eventually starts to affect our health and our overall well being. So this is something that we need to avoid because chronic stress, it actually keeps our body alert even when there is no real danger. So basically it's drawing away a lot of energy unnecessarily. Also, when you are experiencing chronic stress, our body releases a hormone called cortisol and this is our brain's way of protecting us. So it releases cortisol. And when cortisol increases in the body, then melatonin is the sleep inducing hormone which is produced in response to darkness reduces. So now just understand, if cortisol is increasing, melatonin, melatonin is decreasing. And if melatonin decreases, then we cannot sleep properly because it is responsible for sleep, this hormone. So that's the reason why most of us who experience stress struggle to go to sleep. Now also when cortisol increases, oxytocin, which is the happiness hormone in our body, reduces so how do we really deal with this chronic stress? The easiest and the most effective way to deal with it is to start doing something fun. Start doing something which will really make you feel good about your day. Something that will make you feel relaxed or maybe go out for coffee with your friend, watch a nice movie, read a nice book, do some gardening, go for a nice walk. So when you do this, you're actually signaling to your brain that, you know, the cortisol needs to go down and oxytocin needs to go up. Because now I'm really having a good time.
So that is very important. And as a mother, it's very important that we take care of our energy, because parenting requires a lot of energy. It's a lot of responsibility. And raising a child is no easy task. So it's very important that we do something fun in order for us to feel good about our days. And when we feel good, our energy is higher. And when our energy is higher, we are able to do better for our children. Understand that it's okay to feel stressed sometimes as mothers, but you cannot be in this state forever because motherhood is a lifelong journey. It's not something that's ending today, tomorrow, or day after. It's going to be there in your life forever. It's that part of your life which you cannot delete. So it's very important that you take care of your stress and make sure that you can beat it. This is very, very important. So do not, you know, it's not about getting everything right. Of course, as mothers, we would like to do the better thing for our children. We would like to be a better version of ourselves. But it's not just about doing right. It's also about, are you really enjoying your motherhood journey? Are you having fun with your child? Are you creating memories with your child? Or you're constantly worried about whether my child will be independent, responsible. Is my child going to do the right thing? Is my child going to perform good at school? So do not just worry all the time. It's very important that you relax and have fun. That is very important. And when you start to relax and have fun, all of these things that you're worried about will actually start to get a lot easier for you. But stressing will only add to the problem and will not help you find a solution. So make sure you have a few things in your day which you are doing, which really make you happy, which give you a lot of joy, and which make you feel relaxed. Could be very simple. Doesn't have to be a very long activity. Maybe like a 10 minute walk, maybe like a nice coffee with a friend, or just read a few pages, watch a nice inspirational video. But make sure you're doing two, three things every day for at least five to 10 minutes every time. So like 30 minutes in a day. And this will actually help you feel good about your Madhura journey.
So I hope this helps.
