A first-person monologue by Riddhi Deorah reflecting on parenting attitudes and practices. The speaker contrasts impulsive reactions (shouting, punishment, comparison, control) with mindful alternatives (pausing before reacting, understanding, offering choices, connection before correction, spiritual guidance) and affirms a belief in guiding rather than controlling the child.

I shout because that's the only way he listens. I don't shout but I always pause before I react. Shouting is not the solution. I remind myself that I'm just the channel not the controller. I compare my child with others because I know this will make him work harder. I don't compare my child. I try to understand them and figure out how to help. I know that deep down my child is just a soul and I'm here to guide him whenever he needs me. I just take away the phone because I know that punishment works better than talking. I always prefer giving choices to my child rather than giving orders. My child can feel my energy so it teaches him more than my words. If I don't control my child who will? I strongly believe in connection before correction. It always works. I understand that I don't raise my child. God raises them and it's my responsibility as a mother to bring them closer to God.
