Instead of pointing fingers, say, you each need to tell me what happened one at a time. I want to hear from both of you. I stands for involving them. Let your kids be a part of the solution and not just the problem. Ask what would you like to do about this? I bet you have some ideas on how to solve this problem. T stands for Teach healthy Conflict. Tell them it is important to communicate after they fight. Tell them it is okay to fight. Everybody does, but we must learn how to come through it with love and understanding. E stands for empathy. Show understanding and validate their feelings instead of saying why are you always fighting? By following the FITE method, you can help your kids learn to handle conflicts constructively and you will notice an incredible improvement in their bond.
