Wait for it. Last night, my wife sat here in the truck with me and listened to music from a huge chapter of my life. This was my band. For almost a decade, I was the drummer for Narrow Road, a Christian rock band that was based out of San Antonio, Texas. She patiently indulged me as I explained the licks, the chops, the little nuances, and whose— even whose drumming style I was studying at the time. She heard stories about radio station interviews, live gigs, meeting much larger acts and artists that we opened for. And those songs brought back memories of just how serious drumming was to me at that point. Not just playing, but the people who touched my life. Michael O'Brien, the founder of Narrow Road, Tom McRae, Kevin Arnott. They were more than just bandmates. They were people who helped me grow. You know, transformation takes us through many chapters. And sharing that music let her meet who I was and see what helped me shape the man that I've become.
