In this personal monologue, the speaker reflects on returning to the hobby of radio‑controlled (RC) crawling after years of larger‑scale 1/10‑scale events with his daughter. He now uses a compact 1/18‑scale Traxxas TRX‑4M on a simple backyard course he built himself. The hobby serves as a therapeutic tool for his PTSD, helping him slow his racing thoughts, stay present, and find peace. So it's funny how life brings you back into old hobbies. Years ago, my daughter and I spent countless weekends with 1/10 scale RC crawlers, even running out to G6 events, you know, 8 to 12 hour events on the trail, and those events have got over 100 trucks sometimes. Those memories I'm always going to treasure, but this time I wanted something different. I picked up just a little TRX-4M. It's an 1/18 scale crawler. It's simple. It's relaxing. I'm hoping To get my wife hooked on it as well. For me, it's not just about RC trucks. It's because living with PTSD, there are days when my mind is running 100 miles an hour, and when I'm out crawling, it gets me to slow down, focus on the next obstacle, and be completely present in the moment. Sometimes the best stress relief isn't escaping life. It's finding a hobby that quiets the noise just long enough To remind you what peace is like. And out here in my backyard, I've created just a little place to play. It's not much, but it's a place to relax. This is a place where I'm digging it up, putting pavers in. I thought, you know, let's not waste the moment. Let's just get in here and let's just play. And that's one of the beautiful things about these small trucks is that you can basically take them anywhere and just go play. And in just a few moments, you can be completely absorbed into an adventure. Again, this is an 1/18 scale TRX-4M from Traxxas. I've run the 1/10 scale stuff, they're a lot of fun, but for me, man, this small little course In my backyard is just making me really happy.
