How to be a better public speaker Number one Stop using filler words. Filler words are you know, those make it sound like you don't know what you're talking about and make you sound unconfident. Instead, replace filler words with silence. This, in public speaking, is called a power pause. Number two Speak slower. When someone is nervous, they speak fast. Speaking slower makes you seem more confident, and speaking slower also allows you to have more control over your voice and the inflection, which helps improve the understanding of those that are listening to you. And number three move slower. 93% of communication is non verbal. Moving slower communicates control presence and unconsciously communicates confidence to the viewer. Follow these three steps to become a better speaker. Want to learn more? Make sure you follow me.
