Rob Dial explains how unhealed trauma gets passed to children through parenting behavior like yelling, silence, and anxiety. Kids become reflections of what they observe, not what parents tell them. Healing your own trauma is the only way to stop bleeding on people who didn't cut you.

If you don't heal yourself, your children will inherit your trauma through how you handle conflict, to how you express love, to how you react under stress. You might think that you just turned out fine. But being numb or anxious or stressed out or emotionally avoidant isn't fine. Unprocessed pain doesn't just disappear, it gets passed down. And your kids don't become what you tell them to be. They become what you show them and what they see you do. If you grew up around yelling or silence or anxiety or perfectionism, and you haven't healed it yet, guess what? It shows up in the way that you parent. So if you have children, your number one priority should be to heal your trauma so that you don't pass it on to your children. Because if you don't heal what hurts you, you'll bleed on people who didn't cut you.
