Rob Dial explains why relationships fail: people enter them to fill internal voids instead of starting whole. When you're incomplete, you drag your unresolved issues into the partnership. A healthy relationship needs two complete people, not two halves looking for their missing piece.

You want to know why so many relationships fail? If you are lonely, another person will not solve your loneliness. The problem is not that you're alone. The problem is that you don't feel whole and complete within yourself first. This is why so many relationships fail, because people want someone to fill the void that they feel in themselves. If you get into a relationship with someone for that reason, you didn't solve your inner problem. You just involved an innocent person in your inner problem. You are looking for an external solution to an internal problem. Your relationship will have problems because your problems are what caused you to seek that relationship. A good relationship doesn't start from needing someone to make you feel less lonely or to make you happy. And a good relationship doesn't start with finding your other half. It starts with being whole and bringing that whole version of yourself to the relationship. That is how a relationship succeeds.
