Ep 112 - How to Overcome Jealousy
6 May 2016 · 14 min
In this episode of the MWF Motivation podcast, host Rob Dial opens with a series of sponsor reads (Progressive Insurance, LinkedIn Hiring Pro, Metro by T‑Mobile, Too Good To Go, IXL, NetSuite, Fidelity) before diving into the main self‑help segment titled “How to Overcome Jealousy.” Rob frames jealousy as a form of desire that, when expressed as negative energy, pushes the desired outcome away. He explains two common reactions to seeing someone with something we want: (1) tearing the other person down, or (2) tearing ourselves down. Both responses reinforce a low‑frequency mindset that blocks attraction. Instead, Rob proposes a mindset shift: replace jealousy with genuine appreciation – a “good for you” mental mantra – and use the feeling of desire as a cue to identify the knowledge or effort needed to obtain the same result. He offers a concrete challenge: whenever jealousy arises, immediately reframe the thought to “good for you, I’ll work toward that.” The episode ends with a call to share the podcast, download a free motivational ebook, and follow the show on social media, emphasizing community growth and the goal of reaching one million downloads.

It's pretty cool because you can put in the comments section, you can see me, you can hear me, and we can actually have a live chat, which is something that's pretty cool. So if you haven't done so like us on Facebook as well. And what I'm going to be talking about last episode I talked about confidence, how to build confidence when you fail. And another part of confidence is be confident in yourself enough to not be jealous of somebody when you see them and to turn jealousy into appreciation. And I want to talk about this because this is something that's, that really holds people back from getting what they want is jealousy. I think by putting out the wrong vibrations, you might want to call it, of putting out the wrong energy, where they look at something or someone that has something that they want and they get jealous of them versus appreciating them and appreciating what they may have had to do in order to get there. And at its core, jealousy is just desire. That's all that it is at its core. When you're jealous of somebody, you desire to have what they have. And most people, what you have to realize more than anything else is whatever someone has that you desire, it ends up being jealousy. And see, what most people do when they find someone who has something that they want is they do one of two things. They either bring them down the person who has what they want or they bring themselves down. And let me give you a quick example of what I mean. They bring them down by saying, oh, they're successful or oh, they have the nice car, but they must have screwed over a lot of people to get there, or they have a nice house or whatever it might be, but they're probably an a hole and they're rich, but they probably only focus on money and screw a lot of people over to get there. They don't focus on people or doing the right thing, whatever it might be. We in our minds try to bring that person down immediately. So we see, oh, they have the car that I want, but blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. And that's not the way to attract something into your life. If you listen to the Law of Attraction episode, if you go back to that, we make the frequency that we're at by bringing somebody else down that has something that we desire. We actually make ourselves feel better at the present moment because we are jealous of them. But it's actually going to push whatever it is that they have that we desire away from us. And that's not where you want to be. So instead of looking at somebody and thinking, oh well, good for them, whatever, they probably screwed people over, whatever it might be, just, you know, they have that, but this, and then fill that in instead. What it should be is we should congratulate that person on our head. We should think, man, good for you. You must have done something right. You must have worked really hard to get to where you are. You must have really helped a lot of people out and added a lot of value to a lot of people's lives in order to get to where you are. And you build them up in your head and stop pushing that thing away from you by getting jealous or desiring exactly what it is and pushing it away and creating that negative energy. When you think about it at the
beginning of the year, we tend to think more about our habits and reflect on things we do every day. One area that often comes into focus is food. dial be happy for that Person it's hard for a lot of people to do is to be happy for the person that has something that they desire. Even if you don't know them, find a way to be happy for them that will help you attract it into your life. And if we don't bring them down, the natural thing is if we don't bring them down, we have the tendency to then bring ourself down. We think that, you know, I don't have this. I don't have the skill set that this person has to acquire whatever it is that they want that they have that I want. I'm not smart enough to get whatever they have. I don't have enough time to work as hard as they do. I don't have enough energy anymore because I'm too old or whatever it might be. So we either bring them down or to bring ourselves down. That as well will not attract that into our lives. So your mindset needs to be in that case that you will eventually find a way to acquire whatever it is that person must have acquired some type of knowledge that you also need to acquire in order to get whatever it is that they have that you desire. And if you start working towards whatever it is, then you're eventually going to get there, if you work as hard as you possibly can to get there. And that's the way that you get what you want. You don't get what you want by looking at somebody, being jealous for them and bringing them down, or looking at somebody and being jealous of them and then bringing yourself down. Think about that. There's no way to attract that into your life. You have to literally normalize the feeling of having it and look at someone and go, you know what, man? Good for you. Good for you. And that's the thing that I want you to start thinking of. And you have to realize, listen, we're never going to be perfect. You'll feel jealousy creep up sometimes. But when you stand guard to your mind and kick out that negative emotion, when that jealousy does creep up and you replace it with, you know what? Good for you.
That's the.
That's the phrase that I want you to remember. Good for you. You must have really added a lot of value to a lot of people's lives in order to get that whatever it is that you want, whatever it is that they have that you want. So I want you to think about that. I want you to think about jealousy when you see someone who's jealous. If you know someone who's jealous of a lot of people and makes up a lot of excuses like that, maybe you should share this episode with them. Or if you. If they're just the type of person who's never gonna listen to it in your mind, just go, you know, it's sad that that person won't get what they want because they're pushing it away from them. And you have to normalize the feeling of getting what you want. And you have to stand guard and go, you know what? I'm gonna start appreciating those people. I'm gonna start appreciating what they have. I'm going to figure out a way to attract that into my life. Because by having jealousy and bringing that person down, or by having jealousy and bringing myself down is never going to attract those things into my life. I'm never going to acquire whatever it is that I want to acquire by having those negative emotions towards it. So what I want to leave you with, the challenge I want to leave you with is anytime you start to get jealous of someone, I want you to immediately switch and in your head think, good for you. Good for you for getting that that's something that I want one day and that's something that I will get one day. And I'm going to figure out a way to attract as well. But you need to think good for you. So if you know someone that could get something from this, please share this with them. Please share it with them. We are over. We're approaching 500,000 downloads and we can't get to a million our first 12 months without you sharing. And I'm gonna leave you the same way I leave you every single episode. Make it your mission today to make somebody else's day better. I appreciate you and I hope that you go out there and you have an absolutely amazing day.
