In this motivational monologue, the speaker explains that most people’s hopes and goals die inside their comfort zone because the brain’s ancient survival mechanism creates fear of the unknown. He traces the evolutionary origin of this fear, describing how early humans stayed in caves to avoid predators, and argues that in modern life this fear no longer serves a useful purpose. By understanding that the feeling of fear is a relic, listeners are encouraged to embrace it and deliberately step outside their comfort zone, where the life and achievements they desire reside. The talk concludes with a call to action to like, share, and pursue one’s goals beyond the comfort zone.

Today I'm going to talk about where everybody's hopes, dreams, desires and goals go to die. This is your comfort zone. This is where most people find themselves and they never push themselves out of it. And their life never becomes what they want it to because they spend too much time here and never outside of their comfort zone. But the secret is this. Everything that you want, the life that you want, is all located by pushing yourself outside of this comfort zone. So let's talk about why comfort zones exist in the first place. The reason why comfort zones exist is because your brain is designed to do one thing and one thing only, and that is designed to keep you alive. Now, tens of thousands of years ago, this served a purpose for us. The reason why was because if we were living in caves and it was the middle of the night and we were about to walk out of that cave, out of that comfort zone, we didn't know what was outside of it. It could have been a lion. And so we would get this physical feeling of fear inside of us because we were going to step out into the unknown, step out into something that was outside of our comfort zone. Now, that being said, that gives you an idea of why, when you're about to step out of your comfort zone and do something that you've never done before, you can sometimes get a physical feeling of fear. And it sometimes can be paralyzing to you if you let it be and you think about it too much. But the problem is this. Everything that you want is outside of your comfort zone. So what do you need to do? You need to understand that just because you have the feeling of fear doesn't mean that you can't step out of your cave. Doesn't mean that you can't step out of your comfort zone. If you can understand the reason why your brain has this mechanism that that makes you want to shut down whenever you're going outside of your comfort zone. You can embrace the fear and understand that it doesn't serve you anymore. Tens of thousands of years ago, that fear would have served you. But now, in 2017, it doesn't serve you anymore. Here's the best part about it, though. You can still feel that fear and go anyways. You can still feel that fear and push yourself outside of your comfort zone. Because everything that you want is located outside of this comfort zone. The life that you want is located outside of this comfort zone. And now that you know why comfort zones exist, you can push yourself out of your comfort zone and start going for everything that you want in your life that's located outside of it.
