Make This DECISION To Become Successful TODAY! | Rob Dial

Rob Dial explains the "choose your hard" framework: you can either struggle now for long-term ease, or take comfort today and face bigger problems later. He shows how this trade-off applies to business, health, relationships, and family, arguing that avoiding the decision is itself a choice that leads to regret.

It's very simple. Life is not hard. Well, okay, let me rephrase that. Life is not hard to understand. Today we're going to talk about how hard life can be and how to make it easier on yourself. So I want you to realize this. In life there will be sacrifice. It doesn't matter who you are, it doesn't matter what you do, it doesn't matter what you don't do. At some point in time, you're going to have to make a choice of what you want to sacrifice. And I don't mean like sacrificing your dog or another human. I mean sacrifices in what it is that you do or what it is that you get in your life. And so that's what we're gonna talk about is the fact that you get to choose your hard in life. What do I mean by you get to choose your hard? Well, life can either be easy now and hard later, or it can be hard now and easy later. You get to choose what your heart is. Right. Like I'll give you an example. Working really hard and building a business, that's hard. But do you want to know what's harder? Being broke. But you get to choose which hard you want. And if you don't want to build a business, Working hard to get promoted, working hard to make more sales phone calls, working hard to go over and above to show that you're a better candidate than everyone else around you. That's hard, but so is being broke. I would venture to say that being broke is way harder than putting in the hard work. But you get to choose your heart. You get to choose what you want to sacrifice in life. Because either there will be sacrifice now or there will be sacrifice sometime in the future. And we as humans, just so you know, we like to take the path of easy resistance. We don't like to push ourself outside of our comfort zones. It's not necessarily comfortable. That's why it's called a comfort zone. Because when you push yourself outside of that comfort zone, it ain't easy anymore. And so we usually like to take the path of least resistance, which is why a lot of people don't have the life that they want as they get older, why they don't have enough for retirement, why they don't have enough to travel for, have the freedom to have the family, the happiness, the joy is because they didn't make sacrifices in order to create those things earlier in life. And now they've woken up and it's too late. I'm going to tell you this, if you're listening to me right now, it's never too late. One of my favorite things, one of the the oldest person I've ever had go through one of my courses was a lady earlier this year that was 93 years old. And it just shows that she was still ready to change herself at 93 years old. If you're under 93 years old, it's still time for you to be able to change yourself as well. So let me give you an example of choosing your hard and choosing what it is that you want to sacrifice in your life. Let's say, you know, let's take business as the example, because I just use that, right? Let's say you want to build a brand new business. You don't have a business now. You've never started a business. But there's something inside of you that says, I should start this business. And I'm not saying you have to quit your job right now. Maybe later on down the road you decide to, but something inside of you says, I need to start this business. In order to start a business, you must sacrifice something. In fact, in order to start a business and have it be as successful as it truly could be, you're going to have to sacrifice a lot of different things. And it's your choice to decide if it's worth sacrificing to you or not. You're going to have to sacrifice time that you might be using just for leisure right now. You might have to sacrifice your current job later on down the road because it's taking up too much time and it's holding you back from scaling the business. You might have to sacrifice some sleep. You might have to sacrifice the weekend and partying with your friends for a couple years. You might have to sacrifice that toxic relationship that won't make it and is getting in the way of you creating this business and getting in the way of you doing what is that you want, because that person's either holding you back or they're talking negatively to you or whatever it might be. You're going to have to sacrifice a lot of things to get the life that you want. There's no way that you can completely get a life that is so much more amazing than the one that you currently have while keeping everything around you exactly the same. It's like Einstein says, to do the same thing over and over again and expect different results is insanity. Have you been living your life like an insane person, thinking that magically something's just gonna come in and swoop down and change your life and make it amazing. Well, I'm sorry to be the barrier of bad news. It ain't happening like that. You gotta sacrifice something. So what is it that you need to sacrifice in order to build that business? The new business is an example of sacrifice now, but you won't have to sacrifice later. What do I mean by that? If you don't start the business, you decide not to start the business, what could happen later on down the road? The sacrifice we're talking about later? Well, mental health. Your mental health could go down because you're working a job that you hate. Your mental health could go down because you know that you had so much potential in you when you were younger and you didn't actualize that mental health. You didn't actualize that potential. And your mental health is declining simply because you're stuck in this position of, I should have done this. Your bank account might suffer later on down the road because you didn't take action. Now your relationships might suffer because you didn't turn into the person that you needed to become in order to create that life. And you didn't change your relationships and make them better. You stayed around those toxic people. You stayed around the people that tried to bring you down. You stayed around the people that didn't think better of you. And so your relationships could suffer. You sacrifice your potential. You sacrifice the one life that you currently have right now. You're sacrificing so many things in the future to make your life easy right now. You're sacrificing so many things in the future simply because you want to watch Netflix and get on freaking Instagram in the middle of the day, watch TikTok videos that are doing nothing to you in your personal life and making your life better. That is you not sacrificing now, but you're going to have to sacrifice a lot later. That's what I mean by it's easy now, but it's going to be hard as hell later on down the road. The only thing that's worse than the pain of hard work is the pain and regret. Don't get to that point where you regret because you could have done more with your life. You could have made so much more. You could have brought that potential out. Life is either easy now and hard later or hard now and easy later. Let me give you another example. Let's say it's not a business that you need to start, but let's just say you know that you decide that you want to create the body that you've always wanted. And so you look at it and you say, okay, if I want to create the body that I want, if I want to get into shape, I'm gonna have to sacrifice right now. What am I gonna have to sacrifice? I'm gonna have to sacrifice watching every single reality show on Netflix. I'm gonna have to sacrifice all of the time that I spend on social media in order to create the body that I want. I'm gonna have to sacrifice maybe some naps. I'm gonna have to sacrifice some time with friends. I'm gonna have to sacrifice going and drinking five beers on Saturday and drinking five beers on Sunday when it's football season. I'm gonna have to sacrifice some things. I'm have to sacrifice that alcohol. I'm gonna have to sacrifice tasty, but food. I'm gonna have to sacrifice every single aspect of who I currently am right now. And I'm gonna literally sit there and go, okay, I'm gonna make my life as easy as possible now. I'm eat the food that I want. I'm gonna watch the things that I want. I'm gonna hang out as much as I want. But. But that's. That's not sacrificing now. If you sacrifice now, which we talk about, not eating the crappy food, not taking time away from going to the gym, meal prepping, and taking time out of your day to create the meals that you need to in order to eat them throughout the week, getting rid of some of the people in your life that are. That are bringing you down and not allowing you to eat those things. Maybe there's some toxic relationships around food. I don't know. You have to sacrifice them things now, but that sacrifice makes it easier in the long run where your body is healthy, you're able to live longer, you're able to feel better, you're not sore, you don't have muscle problems, you don't have back problems, you don't have joint problems. We all see people who are in their 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, and they're hunched over and they can't get their body out of the position it's in because they simply didn't take care of it when they were younger. Do you want to be that person? Well, if you don't, you're going to have to sacrifice now. And if you don't sacrifice now, it could be harder later on in life. And what does that harder later on in life look like? Well, could be a shorter lifespan, so you're actually sacrificing years of your life to make it easier right now. So in the long run, you're sacrificing years of your life. You're sacrificing your mobility as you get older. You're sacrificing, you know, maybe not being able to play with your grandchildren when they want to play. Maybe you're sacrificing not being alive and not seeing your daughter walk down the aisle because of the choices and decisions that you're making to make it easier for you. Right now. You're sacrificing, you know, not having enough energy when you get older. So you're tired. You're sacrificing health, and maybe you have disease when you get older. It's very simple. Life is not hard. Well, okay, let me rephrase that. Life is not hard to understand because it's hard. But once again, as I'm saying, it's either easy now and hard later or it's hard now and easy later. The choice, the beautiful thing about it is that it's always your choice. It is nobody else's choice. It is always your choice. It has always been your choice. Right? If you don't own your own business and you want to provide more for your family, you want your family to have what you never had, you're gonna have to sacrifice some things. Even if you work for somebody else. Maybe you have to sacrifice and put in a little bit more hours. Maybe you're gonna have to sacrifice and put a little bit extra into the plan that you created. Maybe you're gonna have to sacrifice and do some extra sales phone calls so that you can set yourself apart. Because you can either hit quota or you can destroy that quota and go way past it. And you're going to have to sacrifice some aspects of yourself right now. But what is the sacrifice you have to make if you don't do it? Well, Maybe your children don't get a better education than you want them to because of the fact that you weren't able to pay for a better education. Maybe they don't get to travel and get to see the world the way that you want them to. Maybe, you know, they see you sacrifice some of their mental health because they see you coming home and hating your job, and they see you coming home and not being happy about not living up to your potential. It's either hard now and easy later or easy now and hard later. The choice is yours. Everybody, relationships, they're either easy now and hard later or hard now and easy later. What's the Easy way of going through a relationship. Somebody says something and it really drives me crazy, and I just let it go. And it happens again and again and again. It's easy now because I'm avoiding conflict. But maybe two years down the road, it's like the straw that broke the camel's back and I blow up because I didn't have that tough conversation, that tough conversation that I needed to have about, hey, I don't like the way that you're treating me. I don't like the way that you talk to me. I don't like the way that you're doing this. I think that our relationship could be stronger if we treat each other this way and built each other up and we were there and be supportive. That might be a tough conversation. That's an example of having the tough conversation is Hard Now, Easy Later. Easy now, Hard later is just broken. Brushing it on the rug and brushing on the rug until you can't brush it on the rug anymore, because when you walk by it, you trip over it. You know, Another example of relationships is, like, relationships take work, and you can avoid that work if you want to, because it is work. But is the relationship going to last? Is the marriage going to last? Is it all going to last if you keep brushing under the rug and just acting like all these things don't exist? Probably not. Why do more than 50% of relationships and 50% of marriages fail? I would assume because most people are not taking the hard route right now and working through those things and putting in work as if the relationship was their business and putting in work as if the relationship was their business. They're just acting like it didn't happen, and hopefully I feel better and hopefully they forget about it. And actually, I'm not going to apologize because I'm going to hope that she forgot that that happened in the first place. Let's take the easy route. And this happens in all of your friendships and all of the relationships. The relationships you have with your friends, the relationship that you have with, you know, your parents. I gave you guys a perfect example. If you go back a couple weeks and listen to the episode where I talk about how I overheard a recording of myself talking to my best friend Dean, and I didn't like the way that it sounded. So I could have brushed it under the rug and brushed on the rug, and for years and years and years and maybe 10 years down the road, he's had enough and he blows up in me and it ruins our relationship. But instead I called him up and I was like, hey, I don't know how you felt about this. I didn't like the energy behind the way that I was speaking to you. And I want to apologize. That was not easy to do. That was hard. But it was something we were able to work through. And he wasn't even offended. But maybe if I had done that for years and years and years and years and years and years and years, it would eventually be chipping away and chipping away and chipping away. It's not easy to do those types of things. It's not easy to create a business. Not easy to go out and make more money to support your family and get your children better education. It's not easy to make your relationships better. It's not easy to make your body better. It's not easy to do any of those things. It's hard. But your life is either hard now and easy later, or it's easy now and hard later. But at some point in time, you've got to sacrifice. You get to make the decision what you're sacrificing. And if you don't think you're making a decision, not making a decision is still a decision because you've made a decision not to make a decision. So it's always there. What do you want to sacrifice? Do you want to sacrifice now when you're younger? Because you'll never be younger than you are right now when you're younger, where you have more energy, where you can go out and do what you need to do, where you can go out and create the life that you want to and impact the lives that you want to and change the world the way that you want to and make the money that you want to and find the joy and the happiness and the peace that you want to? Or do you want to get to the end of your life and realize, I didn't do it right? I should have done more. I should have taken the hard route instead of the easy route when there was a fork in the road. I shouldn't have gone the path of least resistance. I should have gone the path of more resistance. Because your life is either easy now and hard later or hard now and easy later. But you get to choose which way you go. Hey, thanks so much for watching this video. If somebody stops, quote, unquote, loving you because you have grown into a better version of yourself, you've brought out more potential because you've stopped playing small because you've stopped dimming your flame and you've put your light as bright as you possibly could. If they stop, quote, unquote, loving you, they never loved you in the first place.
