Rob Dial retells the scorpion and frog fable to explain why some people hurt you repeatedly: it's their nature. The lesson is to recognize red flags, stop returning to people who harm you, and set boundaries instead of expecting them to change.

There's people in your life that you need to let go of. It's like the fable of the frog and the scorpion. There's a frog and a scorpion next to each other, and they're both trying to cross over the river. And the scorpion looks at the frog and asks the frog for a ride. The frog says, no, because you're going to sting me. And the scorpion says, why would I do that? If I sting you, then we're both going to drown. So the frog decides, okay, I'm going to give him a ride. And halfway through, the scorpion decides to sting the frog. And the frog asks, why did you just do that to me? And the scorpion says, because I'm the scorpion. In this story, you are the frog, and the people who have wronged you are the scorpion. You need to stop acting like the people haven't shown you their true colors. You need to stop going back to them because you're just going to continue to be stung.
