Well, most parents already track what their children are posting on Facebook.
Now there's something else that you probably should keep your eye on as well. It is the popular smartphone app called Instagram. The app lets you share pictures, add effects to images that you snap with your phone. Most of the photos you see are landmarks, sunsets. They're innocent enough. However, some kids are getting into trouble by, by using Instagram and its comments feature, just It's almost like a mini Facebook account. That means, parents, you should be concerned about what pictures your children are sharing and with whom.
They are using it to take photos that in some cases may be considered risqué, which might get them into trouble affecting their online reputation. They are, you know, sexting using these types of applications. And then they're also interacting with adults in some situations. And adults, obviously, in some situations are sending across adult photos.
Instagram has a lot of privacy settings, just like Facebook. If you want more information about this, you can hear the full interview with Robert Siciliano. It's right there under the morning tab on our website, myfoxboston.com.
