Cybersecurity expert Robert Siciliano.
Hi, I'm Colin Stanfill with Lakeside Software. Hearing this presentation today was incredibly eye-opening. Being able to really understand what's going on out there from a security level as far as what's going on at some of these large major organizations organizations is unbelievable to realize that there's just such a general lack of knowledge.
My name is Charlie Burgess, IT manager for Lake Metro Parks. He's very energetic, very informative.
You know, he was really enthusiastic and able to make his points really clear. My name is Mark Whitmore, I'm with Lodestone Limited. This was really informative. You know, there's a lot of energy, a lot of enthusiasm. You know, you could tell that he's really passionate about what he knows about.
What he knows comes through really clearly.
Really motivated me, just the way he talked about it.
I'm Leslie Fucakis, I'm the Chief Information Officer and Chief Security Officer for Electronic Merchant Systems. We're in financial services. I enjoyed Robert Siciliano's presentation today.
It was definitely very informative, probably the most informative speech that I've heard so far on security and what we can do from a realistic level immediately to resolve it and move forward from there.
I'm Mike Hostetler, I'm the IT Director for Summit County Children's Services. Services in Akron, Ohio. It was very informative. I don't believe he used scare tactics, which is a lot of things you usually see at security conferences. People will try to get you afraid and then make you buy a product to shore up your network. So it was very informative.
A lot of people are just trying to get you to spend money on their product, and that wasn't the case at all. It was really about— his message was about me and about my stuff, not about him and his pocket. So that was good.
That was really helpful.
Hi, my name is I'm with Summit County Children's Services. I'm in the IT department. I went to a talk a few years ago, and a lot of what kind of gets you on these talks is they more or less try to just plain scare you and then try to get their product worked into the conversation to get you kind of hooked on, "This is how you get things fixed by using our product." And this talk was more or less making you aware of problems that are out there for everybody regardless. Of what the product will be and some of the solutions would have— that have nothing to do with him, but they're practical solutions like being able to freeze your account. That's something that anybody can do and it's not something that he's selling.
Credit freeze, uh, I had no idea about my vulnerability there. And with my kids, I have a number of kids, and so I've always wondered about that. And now I know a whole lot more about it. I'm gonna go home and make some changes today.
I think I'm gonna take the security awareness point back to work and really try to hammer that home with our executive team.
One, continue doing what we're doing in terms of persistent security training internally.
You know, I've heard a lot of security talks, and I think that the security appreciation is a very important topic, and being able to impart that knowledge onto employees that work at Metro Parks would be very beneficial for them, and not just for them, my family as well.
As long as they keep some of these ideas, they'll be safe, and we as an agency will be safe. So that's more what I'm worried about more than anything.
Moving forward, I mean, this is definitely a key key that's going to be used for not only my organization, but for my clients that I'm talking to.
