WTF! -- 'Hamstering'

Hey, I am Robert Siciliano. I am a dad and a cybersecurity and digital literacy expert. And this is What the Fuck? So Vice reports a viral TikTok trend called hamstering has people standing on car roofs and then sticking their lower bodies through the roof while someone inside performs oral hamstering. It's gone so viral that terms like hamstering and thirsty hamster are now trending with millions of views. Viral content doesn't mean safe content. Many users, especially teens, are influenced by what's trending without questioning the danger. Automakers like Tesla have even issued internal alerts warning users of injuries from these stunts. TikTok trends spread fast, but their consequences can even hit faster. What makes this worse? Platforms recommend similar content based on user behavior, turning one video into a whole feed of reckless dare. Teens may see these trends as challenges or jokes, unaware of the risks. Warnings get ignored for likes and shares. What to do? Talk to your kids Report dangerous content, especially when minors are involved. Encourage creators who promote safety and digital responsibility. And remember, being digitally literate isn't just knowing about how to use tech. It's about knowing how to question it.
