Breast implant illness is a topic that is not often talked enough about, especially in medical community, but is something that affects many women. In this podcast I'll be discussing the latest research, treatment options and personal stories of women who have undergone explant surgery in an effort to heal breast implant illness. In this podcast, we'll explore the symptoms of breast implant illness and delve into the latest surgical techniques for explantation and the recovery process. Whether you are currently experiencing breast implant illness or are considering explant surgery, this podcast is a valuable resource for anyone looking to take control of their health and wellness. So let's dive in. Well, welcome everybody. Today's guest is Jen Power. Jen is a passionate advocate for the healing power of nature. After experiencing a life threatening health issue, she left a 29 year career as an executive in financial services and embarked on a journey of self discovery, reconnecting with the inherent healing properties of plants. In 2019, she founded Nature Provides, an innovative plant stem cell company. Her mission is to educate and empower others on how these unique plant remedies detoxify, strengthen and rejuvenate the cells in the body, bringing vibrant health to the individual. Welcome to the show, Jen. Hey everyone. I am on today. I have Jen Payer with me. Jen has founded a company that we're going to talk about basically to enhance the ability and leverage the ability of plants and their stem cells to help us recover and heal. She is a survivor of stage four breast cancer and so she's going to talk to us both about that experience, her new book and documentary that are coming out. So welcome to the show, Jen.
Hi. I'm so happy to be here. Thank you for having me.
Well, we had just brief chat at a meeting and it was definitely something that we want to expound on. I have a lot of experience with breast implants, breast cancer patients. Biofilm recently published a paper about bacterial contamination on implants and there are a lot of studies coming out about interactions between biofilm and, you know, our immune system. So I guess probably where we should start is can you tell us about the things you have for Biofilm?
Yeah. So there are several plants that work really, really well on Biofilm. One is one that everybody's familiar with, it's walnut, so black walnut. And let me frame a little bit about what these are and why they're different than adult plants if I may. And then I'll. And then the second one is Dog Rose. So those Plants particularly work on biofilms in the body. Plant stem cells come from the new growth on the plant in the springtime. So that new growth is mostly the buds on the trees. You're in Texas, right?
Oh yes.
So you're coming into the springtime and all of the trees are fruiting. And so in that new growth phase it contains stem cells, peptides, exosomes, all the things that we're now hearing about that are amazing. Flavonoids, secondary and primary metabolites that they all contain. And they are undifferentiated meristematic tissue in the plant. So basically it's the vitality in the plants. And the way I describe it is broccoli is good for us. Broccoli sprouts have sulforaphane, amazing for our immune system and cleaning up our body. These are the same way. So these plants aren't containing heavy metals, they're not weathered by life, they're not sprayed by anything. And so they're the cleanest and purest form of the plant that you can get. And you get every aspect of the plant. So in adult tinctures you're often getting like the leaves of the plant. Here you're getting the leaves, the stem, the bark, the rootlets, the bud. You're getting every aspect of the plant in that new growth phase. And so those two plants, walnut and dog rose particularly, go after the biofilm in the body and clean it up. And one of the things that I love about plant stem cells is they don't differentiate whether somebody has something high or something low. They're going to be balancing and bringing coherence into the body.
So those are the main two that you start with. And obviously there's others that we could go into. Why do you think this has taken kind of a long period of time to really catch on? Obviously things in the current state of the world, I, I certainly get a people more interested in homeopathy, natural ways of healing. I know that's kind of comical coming from a plastic surgeon, but when people want to have a enhancement of a particular area, I'll discuss a wide variety of options, including their own tissue or using, you know, fat. The thing that allows fat to actually work are adipose derived stem cells which are associated with the fat cells. And that's always been the case, you know, whether we treat an area that's injured or infected, maybe it had biofilm, all these other things that couldn't be eradicated because I'm dealing with devices and it's a little more complicated Than someone who's maybe colonized or has their, their microbiome affected by whatever they're getting exposed to, which is adjusting, you know, the bacterial or fungal components in there system. So I have a little bit, you know, different tact on it. Is there a way using your, your tinctures or, or things that have worked for you in the past to get started or, or collect some kind of baseline information that helps, you know, clients get, get enrolled or interested in the process? I guess, yeah.
I mean we have a lot of practitioners, so we are a practitioner company. We have a lot of practitioners who use blood work in labs and look at the before and after. And honestly that's what really catapulted me on this journey. So in 2018, my cancer markers were going back up. So I had the big Kahuna in 2015. Metastasized cancer, treated it naturally. I did have a mastectomy, but I did not do chemo and radiation. I actually did my cleanup out in California. But three years later, because I'd never addressed the toxic burden in my body fully, my cancer marker started going back up in my labs. And I went, oh crap. This is what happens to so many women. They get this recurrence. I was visiting a friend and her husband came out with this tincture and he said, jennifer, this has saved a lot of my patients lives. And very casually I said, oh, that's great, what is it? As soon as he said embryonic plant stem cells. I literally felt like I was struck by lightning. When you just have that memory moment where I'm like, okay, I need to know more about these. I ended up going to a week long training and on the last day of the class, the guy who was doing the training said he was going to be selling his company and here comes that same bolt of lightning. So without trying a single product, and I'm a very experiential, I want to try it first before I'll really incorporate it into my life. I came home and I meditated for a month saying, what the heck does this mean? Why am I getting these signs? Something divine happening. I called him up and I said, put me on a protocol. And two months later my cancer markers were back in the normal range. So I personally used my labs to say, okay, you know, my CA19, the. I forget the other cancer marker for breast cancer. But the two that I was really monitoring totally went back into the normal range in two months. So I said, okay, there's something to this.
Anything else at that time, because typically. So I Just want to give everybody a little clear understanding. Like when they come engage with me, give them a lot of marching orders like anti inflammatory diet, lots of changes in lifestyle habits. We'll say focus on sleep and recovery to better get your circadian rhythm in line with your, your body. Because we're all doing a lot of things all the time. And I find obviously I predominantly take care of female clients. They're managing all their day to day, they're managing the family's day to day. They may be running their own business, they may be an employee of another business. That's a very complicated, stressful situation and that creates a lot of immune system. In some respects, suppression basically makes it easier for you to get problems with infections, a malignancy.
Yeah. And, you know, and that was a huge part of the unraveling of me getting cancer because I was the one who ate healthy and I exercised. And when I got cancer, huge shock. I was in banking, was in financial services for 29 years. And I was the one who would fly out to California land, go to the local health store, pick up all my food for the week, take it back to my hotel room, and everybody was shocked. Like, how did you get it? You're the healthy one. But my stress levels were off the charts. I was working sometimes 20 hours a day, which is embarrassing to say, raising four kids, traveling all the time. Right. Being exposed to radiation, traveling. But I had left corporate in 2017. So when my markers were going up a year later, I had thought I had resolved all the stress issues in my life. And I thought, okay, you know, I've had a year off. I've been doing some volunteer work here and there, but, you know, my body's regulated, everything's good. I'm eating healthy, I'm outside getting morning sun, doing all, all of the things. And I was taking 120 supplements a day. So 40 at breakfast, 40 at lunch, 40 at dinners, taking turmeric CoQ10. All. All the things. In hindsight, I look back, my body wasn't able to absorb it.
Yeah. And then what, what time frame did you run your previous life? Because that's a different life. That's a, that's a whole different life you're talking about relative to your previous Life.
Yeah. In 2017 is when I left corporate, but I was in it, you know, since 1988.
Yeah. So I mean, that's. We talk about it a lot with our patients, is it's a accumulative process. It's not to your point. Like, you didn't do one thing that led you to have that problem. That's an accumulation of problems. And I always tell everybody kind of, you know, as an aside, you can't pick your parents and you can't outrun a bad diet. Things I don't say are, you have to sleep.
Yes. And there was not a lot of that going on for most of my life. That's, I mean, no rest and recovery. Yeah. So all of those things are what really stressed the heck out of my body.
Yeah.
For two months, taking these extracts to have such a quick shift. That's why I ended up buying the assets of the company in 2019.
It's really an alignment of what you experienced and then as you were doing your own path to whether we call it detox or, or, or whatever we're calling it, that change to plant based therapy really resonated and helped with you from a body. Like the whole experience.
Yes, yes.
So the components of that, and I presume with all the other alterations, that's like the secret sauce. Like you did all the things and then you added these and these for you and your clients and other people. Practitioners. Clients are now experiencing the benefits.
Correct. And you had asked a question, Dr. Rob, about why don't people know about these? The medical term is called Gemo Therapy. Gemo means bud, not still. And the only holistic group of doctors that I know of that has heard about these and trained on these is naturopaths. Naturopaths often have had at least a class in gemotherapy, aware of it, and that's about it. So that is a big part of my mission is to get these out. They're well known in Europe. So they're actually in the European pharmacopoeia in Europe. And there are four companies, five companies in the world that do this and all of them are based in Europe. So I'm really the first one to want to bring these out to the US Kind of like mistletoe therapy. Right. It's hard to find a practitioner in the US who does mistletoe therapy, but in Europe you can find them on every street corner.
And do you think so with the European. And I agree with you, there's a lot of things that we could improve and bring over. There's. That's a whole separate. I mean, that's a, not an hour long, that's like a month long conversation in terms of published materials. You know, I found things about Robusta coffee, grapevine, Oregon tree. There's other ones that have been put in the literature, but it's really a very, very small amount that have been published about, in scientific literature. And I usually always go to the default is there's no money to be made by a pharmaceutical company. And that's why there's nothing, you know, written, because I hope most people understand this now. But many companies employ many investigators to then put forth research to then qualify, you know, the, the product, so to speak.
Yes.
In the, in the European based companies, is there just a really a large menu and, and yours has got a smaller portion and you're growing it or what's that?
Yeah. So the companies are in Romania, Belgium and Italy. Our plants all come from the Italian Alps, every single one of them.
Okay.
And what I've learned is about 90, 97 of all herbal plants come from Italy because they have the growing season to be able to grow these. Okay. Up in the Italian Alps, they're not sprayed by anything. You're not getting heavy metals. Right. So they're super, super pure plants that are growing in their natural habitat, which is a whole, you know, when you look at homeopathy, homeopathy says like pure lights, it's an energetic, energetic benefit that they're using. Well, these have the energy and they have the biologic or the physical capability of supporting the body. And it's a pretty intensive, intentional production process. So every one of these plant buds is hand picked, so there's no machinery involved. They're all handpicked by botanists who go out and say, okay, there's silver fir. There are 150 silver firs in this region. They have to map it out. And then every day during the time that that tree should bud, they're going out saying, is it ready? Nope, not yet. Is it ready? Nope, not yet. Is it ready? Yes, it's ready. They pick it, and within two hours, they have to come off that mountain and start to macerate it or the bud will start to open and you start to lose some of the healing properties. So it's very, very intentional. We don't ever pick more than 20% from a tree because we want it to thrive. Right. It's like pruning a tree versus decimating. As human beings, we love to be takers and we love to come in and take, take, take. But this is keeping things in balance the way nature intended. And it's one of the things I'm very passionate about because I believe nature has everything we need to heal.
So those, you're getting those from Italy and then in your, your business and you've written a book about the business we can talk about in a minute. So that's now available and the tinctures are available and you have a book available. So let's, let's go from in the book you discuss how. Is it more of a story of your experience or is this a kind of how to, what's the book?
Yeah, it's, it's a teeny bit about my healing journey and a lot about the plants, what they are, how they work, where they come from, the science, why they work. And then I have like a materia medica section in the book about each plant and then I have different health conditions. So if somebody's trying to deal with a, you know, dysbiosis in the gut, what plants would support that? So I kind of laid it out to make it user friendly for people because again, my goal is to educate and get this, this, this modality out.
And I think there are tons of, whether it's energy based therapies or other or plant based, there, there are a lot of things that will come to the fore over the next several years that you know, seem very peripheral right now or like out there when discussed. And I don't, I try to keep an open mind about everything. Obviously I was trained in a very standard allopathic way. I've operated for a very long period of time and I'm certainly by no stretch of the imagination comfortable that we know what's going on with the immune system and how its complexities, especially when it relates to environmental stress is responding. Because I see too many things on a day to day to know that we don't understand that extremely well, if at all extremely well. We don't, if we understand a little bit, we might be overstating our position.
Yeah, I think we've scratched the surface.
Right. So I feel like, you know, the thing that I look for always, and this is just my personal bias, is I want to have a starting point. So I'm somebody who, I like to know someone's genetics to the best of our ability, like understand how they metabolize things, you know, some evaluation of their gut microbiome, a toxicity burden test. Just because, like I come from a place where if you told me that somebody ran your protocol and got better, I want to know why, why? And if you don't have anything to start baseline, you just told me you did a clinical interview. Like we'll just say your practitioner did a clinical interview, an assessment and they decided, yep, you sound like X. And we're Going to do Y for you. I get annoyed with that because one so many things, like on a day to day basis, people are just assaulted with so many different things in their environments. So you know, I, as much as I talk about not drinking out of plastic, people still show up to my clinic drinking out of a Fiji bottle or something they bought because they flew in knowing damn well that I'm going to criticize someone for doing that. And I try to not be harsh about it, but I'm like, you know, the bispenols and the phthalates and everything that's in these affects a woman's endocrine system. So I can't impress people upon them enough. Like your environmental stress dictates a lot of why you experience what you experience and whether it's a plant therapy or you know, a supplement therapy, whatever you're trying to do, to give it a fair assessment, you have to understand at a baseline at least some things about, you know, your, and I say testing, you know, I hate, everybody hates that word probably. But you have to understand what's going on. And, and I'm not averse to any kind of objective testing. There are some very subjective things that I'm a little, have a little difficulty with. So kind of stuck in my traditional mindset of I want to see something, you know, that, you know, if someone has a phthalate level, I want to see it go down.
Right, right. You want the science? Yeah.
Then I feel better.
Totally agree. And one of the things that I wrote about in the book is these work on the microrna and the DNA mutations that we have in the body. So I have a practitioner out in Minnesota who came to me a couple of years ago and he said, jen, I believe that these are cleaning up gene mutations in the body. And he said, I see a lot of mthfr, I see a lot of the compt. Gen see a lot of these issues. Would you be willing to fund a study so that we can see what's happening before and after? And so I did so for 10 patients. We did a full gene panel through genomics, wanted to see what was going on genetically. We gave them one tincture, didn't change anything else. And then we did a full genetic panel after and these gene mutations were coming out of their profiles. So you know, imagine what that potential impossibility is. And then me going, okay, because I am a scientist at heart, I was left brain most of my, my education and career is okay, how do we test this beyond 10 people? 10 people is not a Good sample. We need thousands of people.
Yeah, right.
So trying to find a university or a company willing to fund that study. Right Again, there's no money in plant stem cells. You can't patent it. So that's been something that's been on my list since Dr. Dan and I did that. So you're right, there's so much more. But I do look at, you know, I have a small clinic here in North Carolina and I do look at blood tests, I do look at GI maps, I do look at these things to see what is shifting in the body as a result of working with these plant stem cell extracts. And you know, so far the data that I've collected has been pretty phenomenal. And the practitioners that we work with.
Feeling low on energy or stressed out. You might be missing essential B vitamins. Introducing liposomal B complex from Dr. Rob Solutions. The blend designed for maximal absorption to fuel your body's energy production and support mental clarity. Everybody's heard of the MTHFR gene. You need a methylated B complex in order to support this. If you have this problem, which about 40% of Americans do, B vitamins play a critical role in reducing stress, boosting mood, and maintaining overall vitality. With liposomal technology, you get the nutrients where they are needed most, right into your cells. Discover the benefits today by visiting the link below or visit DrRobSolutions.com and revitalize your health. You know, we do a lot of genetic testing and with my patients who have problems with breast implant illness, certainly I see a lot of methylation issues. I am, I myself have mthfr and certainly genes can be turned off and on, on by epigenetics. So I presume what the practitioner is concerned about is like, behave like the behavior of the gene because either the gene or you don't have the gene. So I have the gene. It's just the behavior of the gene. Can we, we'll say make it behave.
Yes.
So the environmental factors, much like we were talking about before, these are epigenetic changes are due to, I hate to say like, you know, generically environmental stress, but that is, you know, more and more certainly what your practitioners see. It's what I see. It's what I seemingly talk about till I'm blue in the face and wrote a book about. But in the practical sense. So if we're, if we're thinking of, that's another lever to pull. In addition to the things we talked about before, which are trying to modify your lifestyle in a way that makes sense for you like everybody. I try to meet everybody where they are. Like I. And not to get off on this is very tangential, but my entire career always said the hardest thing to change is someone's behavior. And now we have drugs that do it. I don't think folks don't really understand GLP or GLP1 and agonists, but they just, they change behavior. And there's never been a drug like that in my lifetime. And I'm not talking about a mood stabilizing drug. This is very different. This is a drug that basically weekly tells you not to. Oh, Rob, you don't need to have another shot of tequila or another bag of chips, like right. Need to go do that. It's going to cost. I think our, one of our groups said a trillion dollars to the economy because. And I fully believe this because I was at a Starbucks on, I guess it was Sunday. I was getting something for my wife from a store and it store hadn't opened. So I was like, I gotta get a coffee. And then I'm like, I go in there and I'm like, Starbucks, really? I don't like their coffee. But I asked the little gal at the counter, I was like, all right, I want the strongest drip coffee you have. And she got me a black coffee because I don't put a bunch of junk in my coffee. And I. The place was empty, Jen. It was.
Wow. Wow.
If that isn't the biggest indictment on behavior I've ever seen. When's the last time five years ago, you could roll into a Starbucks, find a seat, 1am on a Sunday anywhere in the world and it not be busy, not be aligned to go talk to.
Yes.
And then wait. And that is reality now. And it's not a joke like fast food.
Yep.
Binging at night, you know, you've been out all night doing whatever and you're gonna go by the fast food place. Nope. It's not gonna happen.
Right.
Stuff is, is very, very much going to change over. It already has changed. But it was funny. It said the FDA said compounding pharmacies could no longer compound semi glutide, which is what's in ozempic, because there was a shortage and blah, blah, blah. You know what that's about, right? Yeah. That's about money.
Money. It's all about the money.
Exactly. But and in a way, why do you think they're doing that? Because I'm sure, think of all the businesses now has been lost, if you think about it overall, by them being able to distribute more of that Drug what it's done economically to all these other businesses. And I always say this, and I know it's bad, but I say if they knew what that drug would actually do, they would have never released it that way.
Right, right.
Because it has so many other ramifications. It just is. Drug companies are not altruistic. It just cracks me up. Like, you know those, you know, and I have people who want fat transfers and they're on this drug and they're like microdosing it. And I, I was like, look, okay, you can't want a fat transfer and then take a drug that makes it so you're fat. Your metabolism is, is different.
Right.
Hard enough to do in the everyday, generally averagely. And typically who's going to come want a fat transfer? The low BMI patient, the low body weight patient, because they're not satisfied with their breast size or. That's basically my practice. Like now you're just really putting me up against it. You're going to come in taking a drug that prevents you from putting on fat and then you want me to take the remaining fat and put it to make your breast volume larger. All things being said, I was like, it's a contradiction, a hard deal in general because of these drugs that modify behavior. It's, it's going to be even, you know, more complicated. And with the, the other side effect it does is it does lower inflammation. I think things like tirzepatide are gonna basically show that a lot of inflammation is gonna go down, which will help certainly and, and maybe make it easier for plant based therapies as well as other therapies.
Right.
Do you have in your practitioner's experience, maybe pretty early, but maybe not their experience with using the peptides and having any synergy?
I have not personally, but I think we're headed in that direction for sure. So we have such a broad range of practitioners from, you know, homeopaths, chiropractors, naturopaths, we have an eye surgeon, we have some MDs, veterinarians. So they're herbalists that use these just for pets. So I mean they're pretty open to using them and they see the impact with their patients and so they continue to work with these. So we have pretty much the gamut. And I think that the practitioners who are really going deep into the peptide world, you know, for sure Our Scientific Director, Dr. Canillo in Italy uses them, but I think it'll get more prevalent.
So you mentioned that you have. And I, I totally missed that before. So you have it for patients and then you have it for pets.
Correct.
It's a whole separate line or the same?
All the same. Okay, the same.
Well, now that's gonna even be more exciting. My wife will want to know about that. We have a desperately old pug and he would do well with some stem cell therapy.
That would be great. Yeah. Dogs are much easier. They'll drink it in their water. You know, you can put a few drops in their water depending on their size. Cats, you know, the minute. Cats have such a strong sense of smell that for my cat, I'll actually put it in her ear flap. You know, not in the canal, but in the flap of her ear. And one drop in the flap of. She has had the zoomies, if you know anything about cats. Yeah. All of a sudden, take this, you know, speedster hit the wall, hurt her knee. I took her to our holistic bed. He said, ah, it's going to take about three months to heal. I did a horse tail in the flap of her ear. In about a week and a half later, she was back to complete normal, jumping up, doing all the things. So, you know, a lot of ways, again, I think that the body will absorb what it needs to absorb and it will not absorb the stuff it doesn't need to. And again, these are balancers and creating coherence.
Yeah. Absorption is always a big issue, certainly in everybody or whoever. It's dose and delivery and absorption, those things are all hugely important. And you have the documentary coming out, maybe touch on that so the audience can learn more about that and then when it's going to come out.
Yeah. So the documentary is coming out March 21st. It's called Nature. Nature provides the ancient wisdom of plant stem cells. And we filmed a lot of this in Italy, so we picked the buds. You'll see live pictures of the buds. It's a lot about my healing journey. There are different practitioners who we interviewed that share the science and what. How they're using them in their practice and what they're learning. And just the footage is absolutely stunning. In Italy, some of it was filmed. I live on 12 and a half acres in North Carolina, so some of it was filmed on our property. But it just really gives you a sense of hope, healing and how this modality can really support the body.
Awesome. So in terms of everybody getting an option to learn more, what are the. The best. We'll have all this in the show notes too, but I'm gonna have Jen give us the best ways to gather information, learn more about this, and when everything's gonna be distributed in terms of assets.
Yeah. So I can show a picture. This is the book Ancient Plant Wisdom and this is available on Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Walmart, all of the places also on our website. Our website is nature hyphen provides.com and I would say that's a great place to start if you love to read. It's also we have an ebook version. I will be recording an audible version. But that's a great place to start because I made this very simple to understand. Again, the how, what, why, and then just a highlight of the beautiful plants and what they bring to the world. And then the documentary, it'll first be out on our website and then we're going to apply for some film festival awards and then the goal is to get it on Amazon prime as a documentary.
Okay. So first it'll just be on the website.
Okay, it'll be on the website.
Okay, awesome. So what we'll do is we'll have everything in the show, notes and we'll make sure that the links are there and the, you know, the take home always is as I have from my audiences. There's always more and more options availing themselves and I look forward to, you know, exploring yours and others that become available. So thank you so much for coming, coming on the show.
Yeah, I'm so grateful. Thank you.
