Rob Greenlee argues podcast episodes should be as long as the subject demands, not cut to fit an average. Listeners can pause and resume anytime, so creators should stop worrying about length and just finish what they set out to say.

produce the content at the length that the content needs to be based on the topic and what you as a content creator want to produce. And then the audience has to decide how much, what's the value of that content and how much of it they want to listen to because they can start and stop. Now, granted, a live program is completely different, right? So you can do this live show and people will watch as long as they're going to watch and then they're going to drop out. And that's just the way it goes. It's not like, but they could still come back and continue watching where they left off at a later time. So let's say they have something else going on. So, so I think that there is something to just continuing to do what, what you would normally do and not try and constrict it to a certain length based on an average. So that's just my thoughts on it.
