ZENN Electric Car Test Drive - Part 1: Behind the EV Wheel - Seattle

Rob Greenlee test drives a ZENN electric car in Seattle, a tiny vehicle with a top speed of 25 mph, 40-mile range, and $17,000 price tag. The car runs nearly silent and fits awkwardly in his 6'9" frame. He believes electric cars like this one are the future of transportation.

All right, I'm in the, in a totally 100% electric car here, and it's the ZEN, which means zero emission, no noise electric car. And I'm sitting here kind of just ready to take off. I don't know if you can see the dashboard, it has a little odometer right on the, and speedometer right on the dashboard, and it's very cool. So what I'm going to do is I'm going to put it into Drive. I'm going to push the drive button and take the emergency brake off. It's a little tiny car, but I'm going to push the accelerator and you can see it taking off. Absolutely no— well, pretty much no sound. It actually has a little whining sound to it. And so let's turn this way. So it's got a terrific inside of the vehicle. And I'll turn it around so you can see the back. It's a pretty small car, and it's got a sunroof, which you can't really see because I'm— it's a pretty tiny car for a guy like me that's 6'9". But we're gonna hop out on the road. This thing has a top speed of about 25 miles an hour, but it does have the ability to be boosted up to 35 miles an hour, and it has about a 40-mile range. So we're coming up, we're driving down the road here, and we're at about 21 miles an hour. It's very cool. So we're gonna pull off here and return the vehicle. We don't— I don't actually own this thing, so I'm just test driving it with Chris Beer. Yo, say hi, Chris. Hola, hola, hola, hola. Since I'm gonna post this on YouTube, so I've posted some other videos about my Toyota Camry Hybrid, which is sitting right over there. And so I want to help people understand what the experience is of driving around electric car, and these things are very cool. And I think these are the future of all of our vehicles, actually. So in this, this particular car costs about $17,000. So anyway, we're signing off. Thanks for watching. Bye-bye.
