Initially, the lack of an existing industry forced them onto an academic path to develop the solution. As interest grew and inquiries about the technology’s availability emerged, they engaged with wheelchair manufacturers, only to discover that these companies did not prioritize the problem. Recognizing that no other entity would champion the solution, the founder concluded that becoming an entrepreneur was a necessity rather than a choice, driven by the need to bring the technology to market.

Oh, absolutely. Yeah. I mean, I would never have labeled myself as a business anything, a business person at all, because, you know, I was, I was very passionate about the problem that I was trying to solve. To be, to be fair, I wasn't very keen on it. I wasn't very wedded to the idea of being an academic either. I think the whole time I was really just chasing after the problem. And so when I got out of undergrad and undergrad, I just, I just wanted, you know, I just found this problem I was really passionate about. At the time there was no industry for it. And so the only way I could have actually pursued it was going the academic route. And then I went far enough down the academic route and, you know, I started getting interviews and calls from people saying, oh, when's this technology going to be available? And I was like, uh, I have no idea. You know, I— so, so from there I started talking to the wheelchair manufacturers and then I realized it wasn't their priority. And so it really— I'd say I really became an entrepreneur out of necessity. Because it just felt like there was nobody else who was really in that position where they could make this a priority and take it on.
