Leasecake Pitch from FI's October Online Demo Day

In this demo‑day pitch, Taj Adhab, CEO and co‑founder of LeaseCake, presents a patent‑pending SaaS platform that automates commercial lease management for landlords, tenants, brokers and related service providers. He outlines the pain of fragmented, spreadsheet‑based lease tracking—risk of missed renewals, lost dollars and wasted time—and explains how LeaseCake centralises key dates, rent escalations, documents and payments in a cloud‑based, mobile‑first interface. The company, founded early 2019, has secured name‑brand customers, preferred‑vendor agreements with franchise associations and the CCIM Institute, and is achieving ~30% month‑over‑month revenue growth on track for $1 M ARR. The go‑to‑market strategy leverages education, channel partners (lenders, insurers, brokers) and a tiered per‑unit subscription model. Taj argues the market is ripe because many users still rely on 40‑year‑old spreadsheet workflows while the workforce is increasingly mobile. He differentiates LeaseCake from single‑side solutions (e.g., Yardi, MRI, Visual Lease) by offering a consumer‑centric, quick‑onboarding product that serves both landlords and tenants and creates a data‑sharing marketplace for ancillary service providers. The pitch emphasizes rapid sales cycles (as short as 20 minutes), an education‑first approach, and the multi‑party value proposition for tenants, landlords and brokers. Finally, LeaseCake is raising $1.5 M to reach 800 customers and close a Series A round.
Chapters
Welcome everybody. LeaseCake is lease management made easy for commercial landlords and tenants. Our patent-pending SaaS solution won a global technology award across 58 countries, and we immediately launched into market. We have recurring revenue, major brands, and a proven team. Good day, my name is Taj Adhab, and I'm the CEO and co-founder of LeaseCake. Our team has expertise in real estate and technology with over $200 million in successful exits and a prehistory at Channel Intelligence, which exited to Google. And Jim Bankston is our co-founder with a real estate family office, and from the problems that he saw in the marketplace, we built LeaseCake. Because commercial leases are expensive across multiple locations today, Landlords and tenants can easily lose over $50,000 and face massive risk when they forget lease renewals and expirations. Because a single commercial lease has over 100 key date and dollar events, which exponentially increases your business risk as you grow. Not to mention the wasted time searching for information. It's a big time waster. LeaseCake solves these problems by saving the tens of thousands of dollars for landlords and tenants through automated lease renewals, auto payments, reducing business risk by focusing on the key activities that you need to know in advance, and saving time with everything right there for you. Welcome to LeaseCake, where we're your virtual back office for lease management. We organize, automate, and notify all the key lease dates, rent rates and increases, renewal options, and documents in the cloud for team sharing. You can add a lease with our simple 3-step process. You can start electronic rent payments. And it's all right here. You know what's important to you, and we make it easy. We were founded early last year, and we quickly won name-brand tenants and landlords, and we turned on recurring revenue in January of this year, and we're already at 30% month-over-month revenue growth, and we're on track to reach $1 million in ARR next year. And here's why. I'm proud to announce we've been welcomed as preferred vendors for major franchise associations and the CCIM Institute, together representing over 90,000 tenants and landlords. So our go-to-market strategy starts with initial lead generation, and then we involve education and sales channel partners like lenders, insurance, and real estate brokers, which leads to our direct sales process of intro, demo, and close. We're a SaaS product for landlords, brokers, and tenants with annual prepaid subscriptions that are offered in tiered per-unit pricing model. And here's the math. Across the US, there were 3 million buildings in our market that are owned by landlords with over a million tenant business locations. It's substantial. So while others focus on accounting, compliance, and property management, we're the next wave of innovation. Consumer-centric design focused on lease management, and we're patent pending. But most importantly, across the board, our customers say it best: LeaseCake saves them money and helps their businesses grow. We're raising $1.5 million to reach 800 customers leading to our Series A, and we welcome you to join us. It's a piece of cake. Thanks very much. I'm open for questions.
Amazing. Thanks, Taj. That was great. You know, the first question that I'm asking, you know, everybody here is that, you know, why are you doing this?
Oh man, that's a great question. So here's what we uncovered, right? I feel like I've been training for this all my life. I met a really great guy. He ended up being our co-founder, Jim Bankston. And from that cup of coffee at a diner about 3 years ago, He said, Taj, with your background in business and tech, I've got 50 tenants in 9 buildings and I'm tracking all of this stuff on spreadsheets. I feel like I'm losing— there's only 2 people in his office that thought it was a silly idea. I thought there had to be an easier way. And so it just reminded me that I think there's a need for this. There needs to be an app for it. So the juxtaposition is my parents came to this country with $6 in their pocket and they were commercial tenants for 10 years. They bought themselves a warehouse, they put a demising wall, and overnight they became commercial landlords. So it was a laser component company that they built. 10 years later, they built their own building. And so I realized at that moment when Jim told me that story and we decided to launch LeaseCake, that everybody owns or leases commercial real estate in their business. And there needs to be an application that helps people run a good chunk of their enterprise with very simplified solution that helps them focus on what matters.
And, you know, why do you believe the time is now to do this?
So, you know, it's Here's something that's kind of funny. In a couple of weeks, spreadsheets will be 40 years old, and most of our market that we speak to are still on an antiquated technology. And so by the time you put information into a spreadsheet or into some disjointed antiquated system, and it could be even Google Drive, Dropbox, Outlook reminders, there are things that just don't quite connect. Well, today the devices, the applications that live on our home screens, the things that we go to are the most simple. And the reason that they're there is because everyone is now moving towards being a mobile workforce, right? Business comes at you 24/7. It doesn't matter where you are in your life that you get asked a question that relates to something that's important to you. So you could be at your kid's soccer game golf outing, dinner, at the gym, you always want to have information. So really speaking, gone are those days where you say, let me get back to you. When I get into the office, I'm going to pull that up, I'll email it to you. Most of our market now goes, oh, it's right here, you don't need to ask me anymore. LeaseKit can be shared with multiple team members and everybody has access to the same information right in the palm of their hands.
Why do you believe that your company has high growth potential?
So what we dreamed up, um, good question. What we dreamed up is, you know, this is not about technology for technology's sake, right? There's lots of companies that apply technology and geez, it's whiz-bang. But ultimately what we've done is we've created a solution for the parties to a lease. We do not pick sides. We have landlords paying for LeaseCake prepaid annually. We have multi-unit operators that are paying us prepaid annually, and now we have brokers as well. So the market's speaking, and we're now working with insurance brokers and commercial lenders and lawyers and CPA firms that recognize the power of data permission-based sharing in the entire ecosystem of landlords and tenants. End of the day, we're parties to a lease for the next 10 years, 20 years, 15 years, and we both need to get out of each other's way. But those service providers that are in the middle are now seeing us as a massive lead gen engine that can help accelerate their own business and their own ability to close and create efficiencies when it— even in each of their companies. So it's truly becoming a marketplace that's evolving completely organically.
There are several questions in the chat room around differentiation, competition, and things like that. You know, can you talk a little bit about how you see yourself different? In the chat room, some products such as Lucidmex or Nex, another one called Common Area. Just a general rule. Yeah. How do you compete? How do you see the differentiation?
No, so, so that's awesome. Um, there are solutions that exist, but they're not built for what the market needs for our customers. Um, so we talk about Lucernax, um, we talk about Prolease or Visual Lease. There are solutions that are built for one side of the marketplace alone, one side of the transaction for tenants. They're typically focused on compliance and accounting and, and, and law, but they've chosen a side. On the landlord side, there are solutions like Yardi and MRI and VTS, and so they're also very disconnected. They pick sides. What we've done is differentiated ourselves by focusing on a very consumer-centric application that frankly does not require 6 weeks of training, does not require a full headcount to train and deploy. And it's an incredibly simple answer to something that exists on both sides. Because what's happening is the successful multi-unit operators tend to also own their own real estate. So they're both at the same time. And we have seen some landlords that own office buildings and flex space and industrial space and retail shops. Decide to open up their own retail outlet. So what's happening here is there's two trends. There's consolidation in the industry, and there's also the ability for one person to be both personas at the same time. And that's where LeaseCake lives. We're facilitating a transparent system for all parties.
What— Luciano asked a question here, I thought it was a pretty interesting question. What kind of challenges are you facing, you know, when talking to customers about switching them from, you know, the spreadsheet that you said was 40 years old, right, to your solution?
Great question. What we've done is— listen, we're not a conversion play in the traditional sense of moving someone off of Yardi or Visual Lease. We're a conversion play against complacency and antiquated systems. So what we're really more of, Mike— that's a great question, Luciano— is We're more of an education company than a technology company. And I think if you embrace the idea of helping business owners understand the tools that can help empower them and do more with less without bringing on a new body or having them redeploy that time that's not wasted anymore, that's what we do. So when they see LeaseCake, within 20 minutes they're on board. We've had franchisees, we've had landlords within literally our sales cycle is very, very short, right? 2 weeks, 2 days, 2 hours, and in some cases, 20 minutes. So once they see it, they, they say, I get it. So that's going to be interesting parallel, and it's a really unserved market that we found.
Yeah, it's super interesting. Um, you know, final question here from Rajiv. Uh, you know, you talked a lot about like the landlord, obviously that's kind of like the main, main customer there, but what are the benefits for the renter?
So, you know, here's the challenge with that question is there's benefits for all parties. The renter, a tenant, if they miss a renewal option, they're out significantly. And we hear it time and again. If you negotiate, if you're the landlord and I'm the tenant and I negotiate with you 9.5 years ago a renewal option and I miss it, it's very competitive. And you could effectively say, Taj, you better step up your, your rent to market because you missed your option, or you need to move because you're going to lease that space to someone else. So it's very, very competitive and it's tough, but there's things that people forget. So tenants don't want to lose hundreds of thousands of dollars. Landlords also don't want to have vacant space for months and months at a time. So both parties have their own value proposition for why they need LeaseCake, and that's what we're mining. And brokers are also our customers as well. So they're sitting perfectly right in the middle to help us sell and get the product out to market faster.
Amazing. Thank you, Taj. That was great. For everyone in the chat room, everyone that's going to watch the replay, if you want to learn more about LeaseCake, go ahead and go to LeaseCake.com. Taj, thank you so much for taking the time out of your busy schedule to talk to us about your business.
Yeah, no problem. Thanks.
All right.
Bye-bye.
