A speaker shares his career shifts from sales to strategy to coaching to private equity, arguing the shelter-in-place period is your chance to dream about what comes next and build toward it now.
I mean, for all of us that are sheltering in place, take this time and create the space for you to reinvent yourself. I reinvented myself in 2008 when I wrote this book. I actually went from doing a lot of sales, and I was actually a sales consultant to start with. But I went into from consulting and sales and being a full commission salesperson for companies, I really stepped up my game and I started doing strategy work and training and coaching around helping companies get their revenue from strategic perspective and bringing in technology. So reinvent yourself. Right now, I'm reinventing myself again during this downturn, right? I'm getting aligned closer with private equity money and now we're buying companies and proving value and then going to exit with them in a few years. So take the time to reinvent yourself in this market. It's a huge opportunity. And really, I'm a big believer in dreaming, right? In dreaming about the future you want. What separates us from the apes is our ability to think. So being able to think about who we are and what we want to do and create the future we want is the first fundamental step. So reinvent yourself and start thinking about the future that you want to create when we get to the other side of this, or while we get to the other side of this.
