Does anybody out there feel some pride in winging it? Yeah, I have been there, and I have felt really good about that too. But the truth is, when we're winging it, we're probably not actually winging it. Probably we've put in hundreds of hours, years maybe, in preparation for that idea, that message, that particular moment. There's no escaping the need for preparation. Each situation, each speaker calls for a slightly different approach, but one thing remains clear and the same for every speaker in every situation, and that is taking the time to really think through the elements that impact the experience that you want to create for your audience. And if you can do that, you might just be prepared enough to wing it, but first you got to be prepared.
