If you want to feel more confident when you're out front speaking, then you've got to avoid this. Instead of crafting your written speech and then making your slides and then sitting at your desk and going over it and saying it over in your head again and again and again and behaving as if you're a writer instead of a speaker, that is not going to get you to a place of authentic delivery because you are a speaker, you are not a writer, and speakers live in their bodies. So you need to shift into your body sooner in the process. Here's a super fun, easy tactic that I use with my speakers all the time. I call it the walk and talk, and here's what we do. Once you've got your script and you're okay with it, even if you don't love it yet, you're gonna take that script, you're gonna put it in your hand, and you're going to walk while you talk it. That is it. That is step one for moving it off the script and into your body.
