Sam Feldt misses the melodic progressive house of Avicii's era and the early tropical-house wave. He's frustrated with empty clubs, AI tracks flooding the scene, and tech-house dominance, so he's returning to what he calls "future tropical" house with his single "Need That Love."

Don't you feel like dance floors used to feel like something? I used to like love going out, and I also used to make songs that now make me nostalgic. And these Avicii days, the progressive house eras, melodies actually mattered, you know? And when great dance pop songs could cross over, festivals were packed because the music made people feel something. Seeing empty clubs and the industry in a slump for a while now, I feel like that really got to me. So I feel like I stopped chasing what I think works right now, and I really went back to the stuff when nobody Nobody was even listening to my music yet, right? I call it future tropical now. House, warm, emotional, vocals that matter, melodies that matter. Need That Love, I think, is the best song I made in that last year. I gave him everything I had because there was no other way, right? I feel like there's a song that needs to be made that gets us back to that full dance floors again, like as a community, tropical house community, whatever you want to call it. You know, those SoundCloud days, the SoundCloud Mafia, And it's crazy because so many DJs ended up being superstars, like Gago, DJs like Bakerman, DJs like Lost Frequencies, Felix Jaehn, Kleon. They all came from that same batch of, you know, on SoundCloud trying, you know, trying mashups, edits, illegal edits sometimes. But they sparked the whole tropical house movement that ended up next wave of radio. I feel like even those guys are confused. Even I'm confused with the techno and tech house taking over the playlist, AI music, like millions of songs getting uploaded to DSPs every single week. I heard from one of the curators that they have to listen to 1,000 songs every single week now, and that's impossible. A lot of songs don't even make it to the ears of the curator. I think that's pretty sad. So I think we're at a point now where more than ever, um, it is needed to fill those playlists Real music again. This is my version of it, and there's more coming, so stay tuned and listen to Need That Love.
