Error 9999 QBO

Linda Artesani walks through QuickBooks Online's error 9999, a recurring bank feed problem affecting multiple banks like Chase and Greenwood Credit Union since Thanksgiving. Try updating, clearing your browser cache, using incognito mode, or disconnecting and reconnecting the bank feed. Submit feedback through QBO's gear icon so Intuit notifies you when it's fixed.

Hi there, Linda Artesani, Artesani Bookkeeping, and this is just a brief tutorial. I am seeing a bunch of questions on the community forum where people are having problems with their bank feed. I noticed it this morning. They did not work yesterday because it was Thanksgiving, but apparently it's been going on for almost 48 hours now. I'm going to show you a company file that I have that's having the issue. You'll log into your bank account, you log into your account, come over to the bank feed and see these Orangey-yellow exclamation points. So what does that mean? Well, it says right here something isn't working, and it's telling me it's error 9999. Normally that will give you some information into the code, so you can click this for more info, and it says please try updating again. So I will try updating. Well, this is a vicious circle. I have done this on several files. It's across the board. This company has Greenwood Credit Union as a checking account and Chase. It's not— those are— Chase is certainly one of the bigger banks and clearly zero of the 3 accounts have updated. So I went to the community forum. What you can do, you can come on to the question mark and type in the question and see what pops up. And there's a lot of people having problem with 9999. How do I report it? So let's see what their official answer is on the forum about error code 9999. Here's the answer to 10 months ago when somebody had the same issue and how to fix it. And it says go to banking transaction screen and report the issue. Well, this is an old question with an old answer. So when you come into the community and type in error 9999, this is one of the employees answered it and explains how you can get in there and edit and do all the tricks that I know to do when the bank feed stops working. Normally you can first try to click update and you can do that several times. If that doesn't work, you can clear the cache in your browser. If that doesn't work, try a private window. And if that doesn't work, you can come over to here and edit the account info and put the account info back into the— you can disconnect the feed and then put the bank— put the information back in to reconnect it. That's like your last resort. You really don't want to do that, but if you have to, if it gets stuck, sometimes you have to do that. Sometimes you contact support and they make you do that. Always clear the bank feed review screen before you do that because you'll lose any transactions here. So basically, there's a problem with the feed. There's a problem with the bank communicating with Intuit. Several banks, many banks. Clearly, it's on Intuit's side despite what their help article says where it's not Intuit's fault, it's the bank communication's fault. I disagree. I think it's QuickBooks because it's just too many banks. If it's just one bank, I'd say, yeah, the bank is updating its security on their end and that's what's causing the disconnect between QuickBooks. But in this case, I have to think that it's really got to do with QuickBooks not being able to communicate for whatever reason. I'm sure they will fix it. It's Friday, the day after Thanksgiving, so I'm just going to put it to rest and hope on Monday morning it's all fixed. They've had the weekend to fix it. That's my recommendation to you. If you want to be proactive and add a little word into them under feedback. You've got the gear wheel here. You can come into feedback and, you know, error 9999, hit next. There's a couple of people who have the same problem and there's 16 people letting them know. You can just go on to this tab here and this was an older one, but we just say I want this and then I want to stay in Appraised of when it's fixed. Do you still want us to send you a message? Yes, I do want to send them a message and let them know it's a bug. So I'm agreeing with the person that did put in the error code message, and now I want to add to it that this is a bug and that you need to fix it. And then you can just send the message. So the feedback's been sent, and you've done something. For whatever it means, you've done a little something to let Intuit know that there's a problem. So I hope this was helpful. It's not really that helpful because it's not fixing the issue, but I'm sure the issue will be resolved probably very shortly since there's so many people chiming in with problems with this. If you have any feedback you'd like to let me know or share with me about your problems with QuickBooks, please feel free to reach out to me on Facebook, and I'll have the link in my blog post. Thank you so much for listening and watching. Bye now.
