qb community forum

Linda Ardisani shows how to use the QuickBooks Community Forum to find answers and ask questions. The newer version works like social media, with badges and rankings for top contributors. You can get help from other users or Intuit staff, and build your reputation by answering questions.

Hi there, Linda Ardisani, Ardisani Bookkeeping. I started to go through some of my posts and I noticed I mentioned a lot of times the Intuit Community Forum. And I started to wonder, does everybody really know what that is? And I mentioned it enough times, but not sure if everyone understands where the forum is and how you can access it. So, Let's go to the forum. So here's the forum. This is an older version of the forum. We actually have a new forum which is kind of in beta testing, it's being worked on. This is the old style one, works really well. I can sort through my questions here. Basically you access it through your QuickBooks account. When you log into QuickBooks, you access it by clicking on the question mark. In the top right-hand corner of your bookkeeping. So let's go there for a moment. So if I wanted to access the community forum, I just click this question mark in the top corner and it will bring me to getting chat help, or I can call. Normally the phone numbers would be here and I'd have access to chat, but it's Sunday, so none of those things are available. We have an Accountant Help Hub that'll take you to the tutorials. But if you want to get to the forum, you can. Let's see if I click on this if it'll bring me to it. So it's going to bring me to the forum, which is what I had on the screen before. So I'm logged into this one so you can see where you can go to the questions and answer questions on the forum. It'll help you find questions here that maybe, let's see. Reconciliation. I can search for questions that are already here. Maybe my answer is here. If my answer is not here, I can ask a question and that will take me to a place where I can fill out the information, ask the question, and then people like me and other users answer the questions. So you gotta remember that when you get an answer, doesn't necessarily mean it's coming from somebody who is knowledgeable. It could mean that someone's actually answering a question That's a user, and maybe they are knowledgeable because they used to program all the time, but they're not a pro advisor. So you're not always guaranteed to get an Intuit staff person, although they do watch this, they monitor this, they answer questions. When you see their name, it'll be like Intuit Allison or Intuit Fred. So you'll see their name as that. They are actual employees of Intuit, or you'll see, for example, my name would be under— it's just Linda. That's my profile. So you'd see me answer the questions, and that's my picture. So you see that. So going to the new forum, let's go to the new forum. Here's the new look. So it's more of a Facebooky type page, and people are already asking questions on here. So I'm going to assume that you can ask questions on this forum. It's QBCommunity.com. Where the other one is community.intuit.com. So it's not quite embedded in the program yet because it's still being tested, but you can see here that the other program just looks more fresh and clean. Like I said, it has a Facebook-y feeling to it, so you get badges with— this is, I'm not sure, clapping hands, a heart. Thumbs up. It's just different badges where if you go to the other screen, you can see here, if I go to the main page down here, you can see the top contributors. I'll find myself here. When you view all, you can see that I've answered 4,862 answers. I've answered way more than that, but they keep crunching the numbers down to keep the program kind of running smoothly, they go through. I've had 18,827 votes, which would be— makes sense that I don't have— I'd have a lot more questions answered than that. If you click on my name, you actually get to see that I've had 26,000 answers and 18,000 helpful votes, and I'm the number weekly— 4th number weekly contributor this week. Actually, all time. This is all time. So you can see that this is what it looks like. I've actually asked a few questions only because I link it back to my page, my blog, so that's available here. It's less about advertising your business and more about just helping people and socializing. So the news— the new community is more about socializing and helping. But less about trying to get some business out of this actual site, where the other site you can promote yourself in a little bit more of a formal way. So that is the Intuit Community Forum. If you're interested in it, it's available in your program. Looks like this. If you know QuickBooks and you want to help other people out, it's pretty rewarding to help people out and answer questions. Dazzle them with your QuickBooks knowledge. So hopefully that's helpful. If you're interested in the forum, please feel free to go on it and check it out, either forum, since both are live now. And feel free to reach out to others there. It's a kind of nice little place to network. If you have any questions or If you would like any future videos, please reach out to me on Facebook. I will provide a link in the notes on this post. Thank you so much for watching. Bye now. Bye.
