Welcome back to the Launch Your Box podcast. Today we're talking about 5 reasons to start a subscription box here in 2026. So I just want to welcome you into this episode. If you've been sitting on this idea for way too long, this one's for you. I sat on my subscription box idea for over a year because I just wasn't sure how to put it all together. And I don't want you to do that. I want you to get started. And we're going to cover 5 powerful reasons that you should start a subscription box in 2026. Okay. Now I want to give you kind of a market snapshot, an industry snapshot, if you will, because I get asked all the time, is it too late to start a subscription box? Did I miss the subscription box boat? If you would, if you say something like that. But here's the deal. It's not even close. To being too late to get started. This industry is still growing fast and there is so much room for a well-positioned niche subscription box for someone like you to start it. The global subscription box market is worth like 30-something, like $37 billion in 2025, and it's projected to grow to over $100 billion in the next 4 or 5 years.
It's not a trend. It's not a fad. It's sustainable, growing business model.
Now, what I want you to understand is that you don't need a box for everyone. We need a box for your people, for someone that you want to target. And subscription boxes really work because they offer a really specific curation.
It's not the boxes that just have a bunch of stuff in them.
It's really specifically curated for a specific person.
The convenience that you're providing for your buyer is one of the main selling points, and just the customer relationship that you're going to build, you cannot get that with just one-off sales.
So if you've been watching the subscription box space for a few years now, you already know that the only difference between you and subscription box owners is action.
You just need to get going.
So let's talk about the reasons, the 5 reasons why you should get going. You should start a subscription box in 2026. The number 1 reason, and if you have a product-based business, you're going to understand this right away. If you don't have a product-based business, this is the number 1 reason. Okay?
You don't have to constantly sell.
Number 1 reason to have a subscription box in 2026 is that you don't have to constantly sell.
In e-commerce, in retail, you're constantly hustling.
You got to post, you got to go live, you got to have a new collection, you got to send an email, you got to promote every single day. You sell one product and then you have to wake up tomorrow and sell again and start at zero every single day.
Subscription boxes can change that. You sell one time and you get paid month after month after month, and it compounds month after month.
I'm not saying you don't have to post, you don't have to go live, you don't have to email, you don't have to promote it, but you don't have to start at square zero every time you have a product.
You get to compound those customers on top of each other.
You're building revenue that compounds and ultimately that lasts. And you can do this on a cadence that works for you, meaning you can do this monthly, you can do this quarterly, you could do this bimonthly. But in 2026, we know organic reach is way down. It's way down, especially if you've been around the block here in e-commerce for a little while. You know, organic reach is way down. It's way down for everyone. One. We also know that paid ads cost more and more every single year. And right now, people's attention is—
their attention span is low and their attention is scattered all over the place more than ever. But when you have a subscription box, you're creating stability for your business.
It's stable. It, it— what's the word I'm looking for?
It reaps money over and over and over again without you having to chase the sale every single day. And it's that peace of mind that's a game changer. So reason number 1, you don't have to constantly sell.
Reason number 2, you're going to build loyal raving fans. Subscription box customers aren't these like one-and-done buyers. They're not out for your cheap promo and then they'll never come back. They're your people. They follow you. They support you.
They show up for you.
These are the type of customers that open every email you send, that share their products on your social— on their social media for their friends to see. They're the people that are going to buy extras and add-ons that you, you offer without even thinking twice about it. And the longer they stay a subscriber, the deeper that connection gets. My average subscriber stays for 17 months. So I want you to think about that. So think about chasing 17 different sales. If I had to wake up and get one person to buy something 17 different times, that's a lot. That's a lot of work. But this customer stays for 17 months on average.
So it's not just a box I'm creating. I'm creating a community. So reason number 2, you're going to build loyal raving fans. Number 3, your product's already sold.
Let me tell you, let me tell you, let me back this up and explain this. If you've ever had a retail shop or you've ever just bought product and sold it, you have to go pick out product. You have to determine how much you need to buy and then hope it sells. And I used to like go to market and shop and be like, oh my gosh, this is so cute. I'm going to buy extras of these. This is going to sell out so quickly. And then that was the thing that sat there on the shelf. I'd buy product and then I would hope that somebody bought it from me. But with a subscription box, that product is already sold. You're not buying and hoping. You're buying to fill the orders down the road. You know, you have subscribers. You're not guessing anymore. It's less risk. It's less waste. It's less stress.
And when you can plan inventory and cash flow like that's the bonus in running your business.
So especially in 2026, where people want more customized, more intentional, more thoughtful products, not mass-produced junk.
This model lets you order what's needed, nothing more, nothing less, and you'll be able to sustain your inventory and the turn of your inventory will be so much quicker. All right. Reason number 4. You get to create something that you love. We're not out here for transactions. We're not out here selling random stuff. You're here curating an experience that you put in a box month after month. In 2026, we are exhausted by screen time. I don't know about you, but this last year I just get sick of scrolling. Honestly, I am sick of being on my phone all the time. I don't want to watch TV all the time anymore like I used to. It feels like everything is same. Every show is the same. Every Facebook random thing is the same. I'm tired of the screen, and so many people are tired of the screen. We want something tangible. We're also tired of the AI content. It's everywhere.
And then we get this algorithm-driven everything in our life.
Your box is tangible. It's a breath of fresh air. It's a real person with a real passion providing real value. And if you pick a niche that you deeply care about, your audience is going to feel it. Whether it's candles or crafts or coaching or whatever it is, your passion becomes your product. And that's reason number 4: you actually get to curate something that you love, and it's meaningful and it's intentional. And it provides a connection that people so desperately want right now in this time.
And number 5, it's a toss-up between number 1 and number 5 for me, but number 5 is huge. Number 5 is the game changer.
Starting a subscription box this year is going to create predictable, consistent revenue.
When you sell products and there's a lot of things in life that are like this, it's not just products, it could be services. But you go through these feast and famine sales cycles. You got to hustle, hustle, hustle and you get where you want and then you take a break and then you're like, where is my income?
Subscription boxes create stable recurring revenue, and that means that you can plan ahead. You can hire help.
You can take a break without constantly being in sales mode. And you don't have to worry if Facebook crashes or you forget to send an email or it doesn't land in their inboxes. You've built a base, you've built a foundation, and your renewals are going to hit your account month after month.
It's the most freeing feeling in your business. And, you know, this isn't, this isn't one of those things that you can set and forget, but it's one of those things that you can build that will bring predictable income.
I know every month on the 1st, 75% of my monthly revenue is going to hit my bank account, whether I sleep in, whether I'm on vacation, whether I'm sick, 75% of my monthly revenue is going to hit that bank account like clockwork every single month.
That allows me to plan ahead, that allows me to hire help, that allows me to sleep in and take a break when I'm tired. So if you think that it's too late, I want you to flip that because it's just right on time. The most successful boxes we'll see in 2026 are those that are niched down, those that are hyper-focused on connecting with their audiences, because people right now want to feel like they're part of something bigger than themselves. You don't need everyone. You need to really serve that one person really well, and that's with a curated subscription box. And so let's run through these 5 because I really want this to sit in as we sunset 2025 and we bring—
breathe new life into 2026.
There are 5 reasons that you should start a subscription box this year. Number 1, you don't have to constantly sell.
It's exhausting. You will burn out. It's not sustainable long-term.
You don't have to constantly sell. Number 2, you're building loyal raving fans. Those are the people that will stay. Those are the people that will show up when you're live, open your emails. Number 3, your product is already sold.
You don't have to worry about if I'm making good decisions or not buying product or what I'm stuck with. Your product is already sold.
Number 4, you get to create something that you love. And you know, that's, that's a big difference. You know, for us as women, we really want to do something that we're passionate about, something that fills us up, and this is it. And then in turn, you get number 5. You'll have consistent, reliable revenue. And 2026 is the perfect time to launch and do something to change your future.
