In this episode of the Launch Your Box podcast, host Sarah Williams argues that poor social‑media performance isn’t caused by the platform or its algorithm but by creators’ own habits. She walks listeners through a step‑by‑step audit of the past 30‑60 days of posts, urging them to identify the handful of posts that generated genuine engagement and to reverse‑engineer what made those posts work (personal stories, behind‑the‑scenes moments, showing the creator’s face). Sarah stresses a shift from “post for the sake of posting” to a quality‑over‑quantity mindset: one well‑crafted, emotionally resonant post beats three low‑effort flyers. She shares a concrete engagement‑boosting tactic—dripping replies to comments over time rather than bulk‑responding—to keep a high‑performing post alive in feeds. The episode also covers the need for a balanced content mix (static images, video, authentic sales messaging) and ends with a weekly challenge: audit recent content, replicate the winning patterns, and post a real‑time, story‑driven piece that sparks conversation. Throughout, Sarah’s tone is conversational, instructional, and motivational, positioning the listener to take immediate, actionable steps toward more authentic, algorithm‑friendly content.
This week on Friday Fuel, we're not blaming the algorithm. We're calling out the reason that your social posts aren't working. You're posting just to post and your audience can feel it. In this quick hit episode, I'm breaking down exactly why your reach is tanking and how to fix it with content that actually connects. If you're tired of crickets every time you post, this is your wake-up call. Let's get into it.
Welcome to the Launch Your Box podcast with weekly tips, tricks, and strategies to start, launch, and grow your subscription box. Now here's your host, Sarah Williams.
Let's get right to it. No one's liking, commenting, sharing, or even noticing your content. It's not the platform. It's not the algorithm. It's you. You're posting stuff that no one cares about. You're checking off boxes and not building a connection. And before you roll your eyes at me, I've done it too. I've pumped out those 3 posts a day just to stay consistent. And you know what I got? Crickets. Social media is not on your chore list. It's your marketing. And lazy marketing gets lazy results. So here's what I want you to do today. Not tomorrow, not next week. I want you to stop and go look at your last 30 to 60 days worth of posts. I want you to pull the top 5 that actually got likes, that actually got comments, that got shares, that got any sign of life. And I want you to ask yourself, what made these 5 posts different? Was I personal? Was it behind the scenes? Did it have my face in it? Because I'm possibly sure that that's what you're gonna find. And then I want you to look at the rest, that dead weight, those posts that didn't do a thing. And if you're doing more of that than the good stuff, congratulations, you're killing your own reach. We've got to do quality over quantity. Let me be clear. 3 low-effort posts a day will not grow your business. But 1 post that makes people stop, feel something, or see themselves in your story That's gold. So this week I want you to post less. I never say that, do I? I want you to post less, but I want you to post better. Okay. Did you get an awesome customer DM this week? Let's share it. Got a messy moment behind the scenes? Share that too. You got something real to say about your product, your why, or your people? Let's say it. No more feed full of Canva flyers. No more, hey, what's in the box? And ghosting your audience. You're better than that, and your content should reflect it. We've got to hack the feed. We've got to beat the algorithm. And here's one of my little tricks. Don't bulk reply to all your comments. I want you to drip them out. Here's what I mean. When I go live, that's when I have the most comments. And so typically I'm answering those comments while I'm live, right? Because they're watching me live. What I do after I'm live, I go in and I answer them in the comments too, but not all of them. I pick 3 or 4 and I answer them, and then I go do some work. I come back and I pick another 2 or another 3, and then maybe a few more tomorrow, because every time I go in and reply, I'm pushing that live back up in the feed. So if you have a great post and you're getting a lot of engagement, don't just go through there and reply to everybody at once. Drip it out. That one good post that you made today, you could get 3 to 4 days reach out of it. But only if you work it like it matters. So I want you to stop blaming the platform. Let me say it a little bit louder for the people in the back. It's not the platform's fault. We love to hate social media. We love to say Facebook sucks. We love to say Instagram sucks. We love to say I'm not getting any traction on TikTok or YouTube. You're not shadowbanned. Your audience isn't broken. You're just not giving them a reason to engage with you. And we just have to fix that. Okay, so here's your challenge for this week. Go back and audit your last 30 to 60 days of content. Pick your 5 to 10 winners. Do more of that. Stop posting just to post, okay? You need to have a mixture of content. You need to have static images. You need to have videos. Yes, you need to sell, but you can sell in an authentic way. Create one real in-the-moment post today, something that tells a story, something that maybe starts a conversation or something that makes your audience feel something. You don't need to be everywhere doing all the things all the time. You just need to show up better where you already are. Because when we can post with intention, people respond. When you create connection, sales follow. I get tripped up with this too. So I don't want you to say that I'm coming down on you because I do this too. I think, okay, let's post about the cute bag and let's post about the cute t-shirt and let's post about these new earrings. And so then I'll go days and all my posts are sales posts. And then I'll stop one week, one day a week, and I'll post something personal and it will blow up in my feed. It could be the book that I'm currently reading. It could be the place that I'm having lunch at. It could be a quick trip that I'm on. And it will blow up. But the problem is I don't do that often enough. I need to create more of a connection instead of just selling, selling, selling. So let's stop. I'm going to include myself in this. Let's stop blaming the algorithms and really start owning our content. You're better than lazy sales posts. Let's show up like it. Go make some posts, go audit your page, and I'll see you next time.
