Welcome back to the Launch Your Box podcast. Today I'm going to talk about a topic that's near and dear to my heart, and it's probably a little near and dear to your heart, but we're talking about being overwhelmed. And we can be overwhelmed in a lot of different areas of our life. I'm going to specifically talk about marketing overwhelm, content creation overwhelm, that energy that you have to, you know, exude when you're overwhelmed. But it's, it's This episode is for those of you who feel like you're just supposed to be everywhere online all the time. Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, Pinterest, YouTube, Threads. It's too much, and nobody expects that from you. And the people that are on all of those platforms have teams of content creators. So I want you to release the burden from yourself that you have to be all the places all the time. You don't need to be everywhere. You just need to show up where it matters most consistently. And that's what we're going to dig in today. I, I'm just going to give you a little backstory on my overwhelm. This— sometimes we get overwhelmed and it's not even legit overwhelm. You're like, it's not legit. I recently lost my executive assistant and she's been great. I've had her for the last year. I didn't have an executive assistant before, before her, and she took much off my plate. Almost forgot what it was like to deal with all the things that she has taken off my plate. And so she's gone, and I open my inbox on Monday morning. It's something that she's handled for me for the last year. She handles all— I have two different inboxes, and she handles everything. And I was overwhelmed by the amount of messages that needed sorted, they needed forwarded, they needed handled. And I just shut my laptop and I shut down. And I think that's true when we get overwhelmed with anything that we do. And it can be true with marketing. And when I actually just sat down, cleared the clutter from my brain of having to do this and got to work, it only took me 37 minutes. Something I thought was going to take half my day took me 37 minutes when I got focused. So that's what we're going to talk about today. We're going to talk about you not have it— releasing this burden that you have to be everywhere all the time and start with really understanding, um, where you need to be and what you need to be doing. We're running a business, and a lot of us are running many parts of the business. You're sourcing products, you're packing boxes, you're fulfilling orders, you're taking care of customer service. And now, you know, you have to be a content creator, but it's not just on Instagram or Facebook, but you feel like you have to be at 5 6 different platforms. And the overwhelmness, that overload, steals your focus and it dilutes your efforts. And there's this guilt that we create for ourselves saying, I should be doing more. And that mental clutter keeps you from actually showing up well and actually showing up consistently. You're building a subscription box. You are also a content creator. So let's figure out how we can marry those two together in a way that doesn't feel so overwhelming. So let's start with what's already working. So when you look at the platforms that you're trying to be on, what is working best? And I want you to focus on that one that is giving you a ton of momentum. So is that Instagram? Is that Facebook? Is that TikTok? Is that YouTube? What is working well for you right now? And I want us to lean into that and let the rest of it kind of fall down by the wayside. But think about what that is for you. For me, it's Facebook. I'm just— people are naturally active on Facebook. I'm active on Facebook. So I think that also, you know, helps me engage on Facebook. If you're more of an Instagram user, Instagram might be your jam anyway. But let's talk about where you're getting engagement, where you're getting views. And I want you to double down on that instead of like starting from scratch over here or trying to gain momentum over here. Double down on what's working. Momentum is gold. And just don't ignore, you know, like, don't ignore the other platforms, but we don't have to chase the other platforms is what I'm saying. I want you to focus on two primary channels. So identify what is the one that's working for you and what would be the next best thing. So for me, for my, um, my e-commerce brand, it is Facebook and Instagram. For some of you, it's Facebook and YouTube. For some of you, it's Instagram and TikTok. So I want you to focus on those two primary channels. That's what we're going to do consistently. That's how we're going to show up as our best self. And then I want you to mirror email marketing with that. So whatever we're doing on those two primary channels, that needs to be in our email marketing because email marketing is not optional. Like, we have to have that in there. So I want to make sure that you're making space for that. So where's your audience hanging out? Where can you show up consistently? Like, those are two different variables that have to be on point for you. Where is your audience and what can you do? Okay, that's what I want you to know. Now let's talk about creating a repeatable system, like a repeatable routine, because here's what I know. A lot of small business owners are creatives, and I would tell you that I'm a creative myself. And so we like to create new things. We like to chase this shiny object. We like to have fun and try different stuff. But what really works for us is if we can create a system and a process, because then it's building a habit into our business instead of trying to come up with new things all the time, because that's where our burnout gets. And so what you don't need is a whole bunch more platforms. You just need a rhythm. Posting once and then ghosting it for a week is doing nothing for you and you're wasting your efforts. So if that's what you're doing right now, just stop. Just don't even waste that one post. Instead, I want you to ask yourself, where should I be and what should my rhythm be? Okay, so I'm consistent enough. How can I create this consistency? If I'm not posting every day, I need to be posting once a day. That's my new rhythm. And once I get that habit built, once I get that train system in my brain, I can show up more. Maybe it's going live. Maybe I'm only doing that about once a month right now. Can I turn that into once a week? Can I turn that into twice a month? What consistency can I have so that I can start showing up for my audience and start building that trust? I need to create this rhythm. Daily post, 1 live a week, 2 posts, 2 lives a week, whatever that is for you. This needs to be the rhythm that you're creating, and that's going to allow you to show up because you're going to know that you need to do it. It's going to be first on your to-do list, and you're going to show up knowing that you're getting— you feel good about doing it. Okay, now I want you to do a quick audit for me. What's working in your business and what's draining you when it comes to those platforms, when it comes to social media? What do you enjoy doing? What is draining you? I need you to clearly identify those. I want you to commit to posting regularly, showing up on video regularly on your two channels for the next 90 days. And then I want you to mirror whatever you're doing on socials with a weekly email, even if it's short. Just get consistent, one weekly email. And I want you to start to build your routine. And then once we get this habit, once we create this system, we can multiply it into other channels later. But I don't want you starting out of the gate frazzled, trying to be everywhere, trying to do all the things. While trying to run your business. Because in reality, people that are on 5 channels have a team of content creators. And if you don't have a team of content creators, I need you to focus on the most important thing— doubling down on what's working. You don't have to be everywhere. You just need to be in the right places consistently and where your audience already is. Nail that rhythm and you'll be shocked how much easier your socials start to feel. So I'd love to hear what you're committing to. Let me know inside Launch Your Box and tell the group so we can cheer you on.
