What Happened When I Sent an Email Every Day for 14 Days?

Sarah Williams sent a daily sales email for two weeks to clear excess inventory, hitting open rates of 40-50% and generating tens of thousands in sales. Each email bundled a discounted subscription item with a full-price product she'd worn on a live stream, promoted across email, video, and social simultaneously. She walks through the segmentation, templates, and daily workflow so you can run the same campaign this week.

Good morning. Happy Monday. I'm excited to be with you guys here on this Monday morning. If you're watching, let me know that you're here. I would love to say hi to you. Today we're going to talk about a little experiment that I have done over the last 2 weeks, and that is me sending out an email every single day to my list. We're going to talk about what I did. We're going to talk about the results of what I, what I've done. And I'm going to talk about what you can do this week to set yourself up for extra sales and success. So let me know that you're here. Also, if you would like to get a text reminder every Monday when I go live and you live in North America, you can send me a text. Just send me the word Monday to my text number right here, 940-204-0023. I will shoot out a text right before I go live on Monday morning so that you never miss a Monday Momentum. You can grab your coffee, turn on YouTube or Facebook and get inspired and get your Monday morning going on. Let me come to the chat and say hi and then we're going to dig right into it. I've got some screenshots, I've got some examples. I'm going to show you exactly what I did and my results. And then I've got a plan for what you can do this week. All right. Good morning, everybody. Hey, Rebecca, good to see you. The team is here in the chat. Good morning, Amy. Good morning, Andrea. Good morning, Whitney. Good morning, Alison. Hey, Susie. Good morning, Tabitha. Good morning, Tara. Good morning, everybody. Good morning, Lisa. Hey, Antoinette. Good morning, Lori Lynn over on YouTube. Hey, Shakira. Good morning, Sarah. Good morning, everybody. I'm so glad to see you here. Remember to text me if you would like to get the Monday morning text reminder. I just send it out a few minutes before. I go live and that way you never miss a Monday. And there are a couple Mondays occasionally that I'm not live. So you're not sitting around waiting for me if you realize that I'm not going live, if you haven't got a text from me. So, okay, let's dig into it. Here's what I did for the last 14 days. I have sent an email every single day and these are sales emails. I am promoting products. And I'm asking for the sales. And so I wanna show you just, I wanna show you an overview of what I've done and then we're gonna talk about it. I'm gonna share my screen and I'm gonna give you some examples so that you can do this as well. I have never done this before, just so you know. I have never sent everyday emails. The most emails I've sent are probably 3 in a week. So this was something very different for me. And here's what I had, I had these feelings about it. And maybe you can tell me about if you said, If Sarah— if you said, Sarah, I'm not sending an email every week, how does that— every day for 2 weeks, how does that make you feel? Like, it made me feel icky. It made me feel salesy. It made me feel like it was too much. It made me feel like they're going to unsubscribe from my email list. So I'd never done it before. But because of the promotions that we had going on over the last couple of weeks and then the amount of product that I really need to liquidate before year end, I thought, I'm going to do this. I'm going to test it out. I'm going to see what happens and then we will adjust from there. So it's been 2 weeks and here's the good news. I'm going to continue it every day this week and I want you to continue it. I want you to start. I want you to plan an email every single day this week. Okay. And here's, here's what I'm going to show you. I'm going to give you some context around what you're going to send. And why, and then we're gonna talk about it. So let's go back to my screenshot here. Here's what I did. And I was nervous about what was gonna happen to my open rates, my click rates, my bounce rates, my unsubscribe rates. You can see that I started this November 28th. Now, one email didn't go out and that was something I had to fix in Klaviyo and I didn't see it until the next day. So there was one day that got mixed. Missed, and that was because I didn't have the auto upgrade on to my Klaviyo account. And because I was sending so many emails every single day, I needed to upgrade my account several times during this 14-day period. So when that Thursday email got skipped, I went in and set auto update so that no matter how many emails I was sending out, that, um, it would just renew for me at whatever price it was going to. I didn't care because I was making a lot of money. So I sent out an email. You can see that my open rates were in the 50s in the beginning. Every single day my open rate was in the 50s. This day, 39% was my lowest. And I can look at the time of day that that was sent compared to others. It wasn't out of the norm, but for whatever reason, maybe it was my subject line that didn't get open. But then you see I got 50s, 49, 49, 45. So my open rate stayed the same. They were opening my emails every single day. And you can see what I was using, mostly my engaged segment and my Shopify segment. And there will be a few days where I would send it to my general segment. That's why this one is so low, because I added in this general segment. And so it went to much more people that day. But I was using my engaged segment and my Shopify segment. So anybody that clicks the box on my Shopify page that says, yes, I want to receive emails from you, that's the Shopify segment. And my weekly engaged segment is a segment that is has received an email over the last 7 days and opened it. So these were email openers. So I knew that I'm not going to hit a bunch of people that don't open my emails. I'm going to hit my engaged list. And I did that every single day. Now you can see my open rate stayed really strong and my click rates stayed really strong. It went from 0.9, 1.2, 1.2, 2.15, 0.8, 0.6, 1. And that 0.6 is that one where I hit my general segment that day too. But I want a click rate here between 1% and 3%, and it was pretty steady most of this time as well. So that showed me a couple of things. It shows me that— it shows me that people wanted to hear from me. My engaged people, which are thousands of people, it's about half of my email list, is my engaged segment. Okay, so about half of my email list is on my engaged segment. Those are people that are consistently opening my emails. Okay, so that's where I sent this to. They were opening that, they were curious every day, they were opening it to see what I was promoting that day. And my click rate, it was a little low on some days, it was under 1% on some days, but most days it was 1% or more. And one day I had a 2.15, and that was huge. And my sales resulted in those numbers too. Now, what all of these emails were, and I'm going to show you an example, what all of these emails were, were an attempt for me to liquidate extra product I had from my subscription boxes. So I've kind of been this, this year kind of up and down with the boxes and the numbers, but that creates a lot of excess inventory, especially when you have thousands of subscribers, because at any given time I could have 60 extra boxes 100 extra boxes, 150, 200 extra pieces of something in any given month. So I was really on it. And that— when you have 100 or more extra boxes laying around at the end of every month, that is going to quickly stack up. And that's what I was seeing in my warehouse. Like, I was seeing all this product stack up from my subscriptions and I needed a way to liquidate it. So every day I would send out a deal and some of it was bundles, some of it was collections, some of it was I took this from this subscription box, this from this subscription box, and this from this subscription box, and I paired it together so it felt different than the subscription. And I would just make it a really great price. I was still profitable on every one of these prices. I still made money on every one of these things because I buy this product in bulk. I can get such a good deal on it. So then I can still make a great price to help myself liquidate it. Okay, so let me show you some examples. Now, here was the trick as well. So I would go live. I've been live every day for 14 days for— well, it's day 11 now of my 12 Days of Christmas, but I was also live the day before. So I've been live 12 times in those 14 days. So I would go live, I would talk about the product, I would wear something that is full price. So like today I'm going to go live after this live over on my retail page. I've got this flannel on that is full price. I've got this rolled sleeve top on that is full price. And I'm going to talk about my bundle for the day, my liquidation tactic for the day. But I'm also going to talk about something that's full price, which is going— which is what I'm wearing. So every day I would choose something that was full price that I was— then I would wear it live. I would talk about the deal of the day. And I would also sell you the full price item. So I'm gonna show you a couple examples of my emails so you can see what they look like. And what this resulted in was tens of 20, like so many, tens and tens of thousands of dollars in sales. A lot of it was product that I've been having sit on my shelf for the last year. A lot of it was full price product that I was wearing and promoting that particular day. But what happened is because I was live, because I was sending the email, because my social media posts were in all in this state, it was all one marketing campaign. Socials, email, live were all the same. People saw it in many different ways. And those emails, like even if they didn't see me live, like it's interesting because Yesterday I didn't go live till the evening because I was out of town. My live wasn't as successful as the other lives have been, and I think I only got a few sales off of my live last night. But when I got done with my live, I sat down and I wrote my email, and I'll show you that email, and I sent it out. And you can see, like clockwork, sale, sale, sale, sale. And it's all things— it was all what was in that email. And so while somebody didn't watch my live last night or didn't see my social post yesterday, they read my email. You can guarantee that not everyone's going to see and watch your live. Not everyone's going to see your posts in their feed. Not everyone's going to see their— your email. So you need to meet people where they're at. And for me, that was those— that combination. It's like the triple threat of marketing: social, live, email. And if I would have not followed it up with another email last night, I wouldn't have seen those sales like clockwork. So let me show you a couple things here. Let me go into, let me go into this tab. Let me see if you can see what I have going on here. Nope, this is the wrong one. Just kidding. Hang on. Hold please. Share screen. Okay, hang on, wrong screen. I got too many tabs open. It's, it's a job hazard. I think it's this one. Hang on. Yes. Okay, so let me find last night's email. We're going to start with last night's email. Chrome tab. Window. Yes. Okay, here's what we got. Okay, so this is— this was last night's email. I did my live, day 10 of our 12 Days of Christmas. I am taking a screenshot of my live. This is— this is the whole template. I made one template and I sent every email the way, and I'm going to show you what you can do this week, even if you're— if I'm not going to go live every single day this week, but I'm going to show you what kind of template that you can use for this. Okay, so I took a screenshot of my live. I linked my live into this picture. So if you click this picture, it's going to go over to Facebook. I also linked that live right here. I talked about the two bundles that I have, which were my Kate Spade bundles, um, for the day. What is included in each of them? A picture of those bundles. And here's my full price item. I'm wearing this Vintage Wash pullover. And so I might grab one of the Vintage Wash pullovers I'm wearing from my live tonight. There aren't many left. And I talked about this pullover. You can see over here I have the other two. I pulled them out of my closet. These are the other two options. And I grabbed a picture that I already had from wearing them and modeling them different times. So this is basic email. There's very little copy. It's me talking. If they, if they want to, if they want to see, they want— if they're visual and they want to watch the video, they can easily click here. If they wanna read, they can click here. They want a picture, graphic, video, they can see here. And here's my full price item, okay? Let's go through another one. Here's another day, day 7. I'm here, again, screenshot of my live explaining what I'm selling, a picture of what I'm selling for that day, and here's my full priced item that I'm wearing in the live, okay? Another one, I'm showing the product, I'm explaining the product. Here's a picture of the product. Oh, and you're gonna want this Christmas sweatshirt that I'm wearing today right in here. So this was the template. Even when I was out of town, I'm in the backseat of my car at my daughter's basketball game in this live. I go out during in between games, I do a quick live, I've linked the live, I'm talking about the cardigan bundle, I've got a picture of the cardigan bundle and oh, you know what? Here are some great tees in my shop that would go perfect with this cardigan bundle. These are full price items. Okay, so every single day I was doing this in an effort to liquidate the product that I had, but also sell something at full price. So that was the gist of my emails. And even before the 12 days started, because I started this a couple of days before that, I'm just doing a product, typically me in the picture. Okay, so they're connecting me with— because I'm the face of my business. So if you're the face of your business, take a picture with the product. If you're not doing a live, if you're doing the live, link the live. But describe the product, describe its benefits, describe the deal, and then put something else in there that's a full price. Maybe it will complement it. If you've got Christmas tees that are on sale— for me, I've got Christmas tees that are on sale— let me put full price cardigans in that email as well, because I'm going to sell a mixture of both. Let me put some full price earrings in there. Let me put some jewelry that matches. But every day this week, every single day this week, I want you to send out an email campaign. Okay, so let's think about this. You don't have to go live every day this week. I'm going to be done after my 12 days. Here's what I would do. I'm going to pick a product for that day. And I just have random stuff on my desk here, so I'm just gonna— my Starbucks cup here. Um, if I pick this tumbler for the day, this is going to be what I'm trying to sell. Maybe I have 50 of these on my shelf, I really want to get them done. I'm going to give it a great price, I'm still going to be profitable, I'm not going to take a loss on this unless I just need to get it off my shelf, but I'm still going to be profitable. I'm going to mark it down, it's today's deal of the day, or it's, it's a great gift. Who is this gift for? This would be a great gift for your teenagers. Be great gift for your coworkers. Everybody has a drink on their desk these days. Everybody has a tumbler on their desk. This would be great for vacations. This would be great for, you know, your, your road trip getaway buddy. Tell people who this is for. Okay, because I can look at this and see a tumbler. But what we need to, what we need to do is we need people to look at this and say, oh, this would be perfect for somebody on their list. So who is this tumbler perfect for? Who is this flannel perfect for? Talk about who they could gift it to. Talk about where they could wear this. This flannel is so nice, you can wear it to go Christmas shopping, you can wear it to, you know, Christmas dinner with a cute red Christmas t-shirt. Tell them how to use your product. Tell them how to gift your product. Make it easy for them to click buy. Because I can see that cute tumbler, I can see this cute flannel all day long, but if I can't see who I'm gonna gift it to or where I'm gonna wear it, I'm not going to buy it. But if you see me wearing this flannel and I'm talking about how you've got to go to a Christmas potluck dinner at work or lunch at work, and this would be great to wear with your red Christmas tee, you're like, oh, I don't have to figure out what I'm gonna wear. Sarah just told me what I'm gonna wear. Add to cart. We have to sell it in that way. It's not about the stuff, it's about why they're going to buy this stuff. Who are they going to buy it for? Where are they going to use it? This is perfect for, you know, your teenager off to college, at school. They're always staying hydrated, they've always got a drink in their backpack. Tell them how someone's going to use it so they feel good about their purchase. So if the tumbler is what I'm going to sell today, I'm going to go into Klaviyo and I'm going to set up my email template. Okay, it's going to have a picture of me holding the tumbler. This is the picture. Okay, we're just going to take a picture, we're going to put it there, we're going to connect you with your brand if you're the face of their brand. If you're not the face of the brand, it's okay. I need you to have a connection point with them at some point. Have you seen this cute mint tumbler? I'm going to tell them why I love it. I'm going to tell them who it's for. I'm going to tell them the great price that I put it on for today. And then I'm going to say, oh, and by the way, grab this flannel, grab this red rolled sleeve top. It's going to be perfect for all those Christmas parties you're about to go to. Selling the tumbler, wearing the full-priced item, and I've got two products I'm now selling. I want you to do that every day. It's a simple template. You don't have to go live selling anything. Pick 7 things out today. Pick 7 things out you already have in stock. You don't have to make— all you literally have to do is pack and ship them. Find some full price items around that you can mark something down and give somebody a deal, and you can sell a full priced item with it. Maybe I have a bag that matches this. Maybe I have a sweatshirt that's the same color, whatever that is. Find something to complement it. And we're going to send an email every single day this week intentionally. And then I also want you to take those pictures that you're putting in your email and I want you to post them on social media because if they saw your email and then they didn't click and buy and then they saw it again on social media, they're like, oh yeah, Sarah sent me that email. I need to go buy that before they're sold out. We need to keep putting it in front of them over and over again because one time they may not buy, but multiple times they're more likely to buy. They've seen it over and over again. It's the law of 7. If you see something 7 times, you're more likely to purchase it than seeing it once or twice. So let's keep putting it in front of them in different ways. That could be a reel. That could be a live, that could be a social post, that needs to be an email. I want you to test this out this week and we're going to talk about your results next week. Okay, every single day plan an email to sell something. It could be something digital, it could be a gift subscription, it could be a gift card, it could be something you have in stock. You have to make sure you tell them who it's for and why. All right. Let, let's get their brains thinking about why they need this item, because they could get— they could open their inbox right now and there could be everything from everyone. All the products you could want are in your inbox right now. Let's tell them why they need our products. All right. So this is your homework for the week. I know you're busy. I know you're packing. I know you're shipping. Maybe you have your shipping cutoff date this week. Don't sit out your email game because this is a crucial period to continue to sell things, especially things that you have sitting around that you've had for a while that you're ready to stop looking at. Okay, so I know you're busy. Take 20 minutes right now, get your email up, and then go work on shipping and fulfilling today. Okay, let's get going. Let's get it out there and then plan tomorrow. If you have an hour, sit down and plan out 7 things and you can create a template. And I was just doing it on the fly. I was— I wanted to have it planned out, but I was really doing it on the fly. I had the template set up in Klaviyo. All I had to do was pop in my item, pop in what I was wearing, and a lot of times I wouldn't even know what that extra item was until I woke up and put something on for the day. So let's go sell some more things. Let's get some product off our shelves that have been sitting around for too long. This is our last opportunity this year to stop looking at this product that's been hanging around. And I have sold tens of thousands of products that have been sitting on my shelf for the last year using this method. So I want you to try it. And even if you don't have stuff that's been sitting around for a long time, if you have stuff in stock that you don't have to make. Let's get an email out and let's just pack it and ship it. Let's go. All right. Okay, have a great Monday, and I'll be back in our groups this week with some stuff. All right, I'll see you guys soon. Have a great day.
