You Control The Sales In Your Subscription Box Business

Sarah Williams shares how she turned a $279 sales day into $1,000 by going live at 7 p.m. and sending an email blast during her 12-Days-of-Christmas promotion. She argues subscription box owners control their sales through consistent actions: daily live streams, emails, and traffic-driving habits, not luck or circumstances.

Good morning. Happy Monday. It's good to be back in the office today. I'm excited to see all of you. If you're joining me live, let me know that you're here. If you're joining me on the replay, also let me know, hashtag replay in the chat so I can see who is joining me both live and on the replay. Listen, today we're going to talk about something. And if you have been around for a little while, you might see ranty pants Sarah come out today because I'm fired up about it this morning. And I think it's something you need to hear. And sometimes it's not always, you know, sunshine and roses. Sometimes it's not always the cupcake with the cherry on top. Sometimes it's not that way, but it's always real. It is always from my heart and it's always to help you move forward. So we're going to talk about sales today because We are in the thick of it. I know that you're exhausted. I know you've been working your hearts out. I know that you've been having this range of emotions up and down. We do that. We do that all throughout the year. We're doing it right now in the fourth quarter. We're here. It's December. We're here. We're in the middle of it. And it, it doesn't ever stop for us. The emotions of being a small business owner, the feelings that we have up and down, They never stop for us. But what I want to talk to you today is about having control over your sales, because there are times when we feel like everything's out of control and that is in your head and that is not what's going on here. And I want to talk about it and I want to, I want to give you a real life, real life example of a situation where I had to take back control of my sales. And I'm going to show you the results. I'm going to show you the real, the numbers. All right. So let me come over here and say hi, and then we're going to get in the thick of it this morning because it's Monday. It is December 4th and it is go time. You are probably overwhelmed with orders right now. I hope you're overwhelmed with orders because that means you're selling a lot of stuff. You're overwhelmed with all the things that need to be done, all the marketing that needs to be done. But we can't keep taking our eye off the game. This is our Super Bowl right now. We've prepped all year for this. We have done all the work that we needed to do, and we cannot back down right now. We cannot throw our hands up and give up. We cannot play the victim mentality right now and say nothing is working. All right. We're not going to do that. And I'm here to give you a pep talk today because we need to finish this month strong. We need to finish the month strong. We need to finish the year strong. No matter where you're at for the year, I asked a, a question in Launch Your Box over the weekend about your sales up and down, up or down. I'm still down for the year today. I have been battling with this number for months now. I can't quite get ahead. I'll get ahead a little bit and then I'm right back negative. And I have complete control over that. And I want you to understand that you have complete control over your sales too. And it may not feel like it. But you do. And we're going to talk about it today. Hey, everybody, I see Andrea is watching me over on YouTube. Lots of YouTubers this morning. Shawna is over here. Tabitha is on Facebook. Good morning, Letty. Good morning, Diana, over on the YouTube. I see several of you that I can't see. Give StreamYard permission for me. The team is here on all the channels. Good morning, Kara. Good morning, Tara. Good morning, everybody. It is go time. We're going to do this and I'm going to get you moving forward. Right now. No excuses. All right. Good morning, Rebecca. Good morning, everybody. All right. Here's what we're doing. Listen, a couple of things happened over the weekend. I'm going to— I'm going to show you. This is me pulling back the curtain to my own business. Okay? I'm going to be very vulnerable in this moment right here because I know how you guys see me. You guys see that I can do no wrong. You see that I show up and win, win, win. You think that I have no failures, that I have no issues, that I don't ever have a problem making sales, getting subscriptions. And that is simply not true. Okay? I am the same as you. I fight every day to keep my subscriber count high. I show up and make sales every day like it's not a given. Okay? And I'm going to show you what happened yesterday. So yesterday I look at the sales. It's late afternoon. I look at the sales for the day and this is what I see. I'm going to help you understand. My sales over the last 30, 45 days have been $4,000, $5,000, $6,000 a day. Okay. And this is just one-off sales. This is not my subscription sales. That's on my other platform. And we've got a great promotion going on right now. We have our 12 Days of Christmas promotion going on and I looked at my sales. It was, it was in the afternoon. It was 6:53 when I took the screenshot. So it was the evening. It was 6:53. I had done $279 in sales during a holiday promotion that I have going on. And I was like, what is going on? And here's where we get to play the victim. Okay, here's where we get to sit down and play the victim in our businesses. I've done everything I'm supposed to. I got my promotion, I've got my marketing, I've been posting. It's the economy, right? The economy's down. Like, my sales are probably down. It's people don't have as much money to spend. And I'm giving myself an excuse. I'm giving myself an excuse why my numbers look like this for yesterday. And here's, here's the thing that we can do. I can either accept this or I can change this. And what I'm seeing is that people are accepting this. Okay, we don't have to accept this. I don't have to accept a $279 day. And I know some of you right now are being like, Sarah, I would love to have a $279 day. And I get it. But you have to understand, I'm coming off of a $4,000 day, a $5,000 day, a $6,000 day. Heck, we did almost $30,000 one day in October. I cannot accept this. Where's my— where's my— I cannot accept this. This is a failure to me. So it's 6:53 and I'm looking at this and I'm thinking, I'm not going to accept this. I have control of my sales. I need to step up and control my sales. And so I go live at 7:00. I go live. I'm talking about the sale for the day. I thought it was very clear what the sale— it was an awesome sale. It was 50% off an entire collection in my shop yesterday. $279, 5 orders later. That's not acceptable to me, and it shouldn't be acceptable to you, especially at this time in this season. So what should I do about it? Go live. I know I need to go live. I need to go live. I need to remind them of the sale. I need to talk about the benefits. I need to show them the product. I need to commit to showing up for my business. I'm not going to sit here and accept a $279 day and play the victim. I've done everything I could do. I did everything I was supposed to do. I don't know what's working. I don't know why it's not working. I guess it's the economy. I guess people just don't like my things. I guess people aren't showing up. It's the 10th hour into the day. How many of you would have accepted this? And you don't have to admit to me in the comments, but I want you to dig down in your heart and think, did I just give up? Have I been giving up? Have I been giving up on my business because I'm accepting what I think is not acceptable? You control this. Let me show you what happened. I went live. Nothing fancy. Literally nothing fancy. I talked about the products that were on sale. And I went live and I sent an email directly after my life. And look at my day change. If that's not having control in your business, I don't know what is. Yeah, I only made $1,000 yesterday. But you know what? It's a heck of a lot better than settling for that $279. You can see right there on that 7 p.m., that's when I decided to step up and make a change for my business that day. And I'm going to do it today and I'm going to do it tomorrow and I'm going to do it every single day and finish out this year strong because I don't want to leave this year down in sales. I have been fighting hard to make up the gap that happened in the spring. And if we accept what maybe isn't working, if we accept that I've done everything that I can, if we accept doing the bare minimum, we're going to keep doing that. We're going to keep saying, I can't do this, I'm not good enough. It's blame it on everything else around us, blame it on our environment, blaming it on other people. But we have direct control of our business. And it doesn't matter if it's 7:00 at night. It doesn't matter if you've been down the entire month of November. It doesn't matter where you at. You have the power as the business owner to take control of your sales and make it happen, you have to commit to showing up. I talk about it in Chapter 2 of my book. You have to commit. And that's not me showing up randomly out of the blue for the first time. That's me being super consistent week after week after week, showing up. Every week, sending emails every week. I didn't just decide to do that one day and got those sales. But I've been working on that and I decided not to give up last night. And I need you to decide not to give up on yourself. And I need you to decide not to give up on your business. Because you have way more control over your business than you're telling yourself you do. Who's been feeling like they can't, they can't make a win right now? They can't, they can't make sales right now. Things have been hard. Who's been feeling that way? Who's been struggling with downtrending sales for the year? Me? I have, and I have been fighting tooth and nail to— I want to end this year up, even if it's a dollar. I want to end this year up. And I know that I have control over that. And I am up against a huge, huge number this month. But I'm not going to let it defeat me. I'm not going to tell myself I need something different. I have control over that. This is my business. These are my customers. This is my product. The time I put into it, the efforts I'm making, the marketing that I'm doing is direct reflection of me. This is my business. Why are we telling ourselves that it's out of our control? I don't know why we're doing that. I don't know why we're accepting defeat in this final hour of the end of the year. Stop playing the victim with yourself. Stop telling yourself that you're not good enough. Stop telling yourself that it's out of your control. And I need you to commit to showing up and making the sales. We have a good 2 weeks. We have a good 2 weeks that we can really make a difference in our sales by the end of the year. And I showed up last night. And I made sales, and that makes me feel like I'm in control. And when we feel like we're in control, when we feel like we have the power to make a difference in our business, we show up in a completely different way. We show, we show up with confidence. We show up with excitement. We show up in a way that we maybe haven't felt because one 20-minute live did that for me. That's, that's all I needed to do. I just had to pull myself together, show up and be me. Something that I've been doing consistently for years and it pays off every time. So stop telling yourself you can't be up. Stop telling yourself you can't make sales. Stop telling yourself that you've done everything you have, you can do. There's always more you can do. We got a good 2 weeks. I need you to go all in. I need you to throw some dry shampoo on that hair that you haven't washed in a week. I need you to get— pour yourself another cup of coffee. I need you to put on a fresh pair of clothes and let's go after it today. It's time. We're not stopping. It's not time to stop yet. It's not time to rest yet. It's time to show up and sell and make every minute of every day count right now. Stop telling yourself you can't. Whether that's 7:00 at night, 9:00 in the morning, whatever time, your lunch break, you eat for 5 minutes and you show up and sell. Whatever you have to do, you need to do it because you are in control. You have control of your sales. You have control of your audience building. You have control of your traffic. You have control of your conversions and you have control of your retention. You have control of that. If you're not driving traffic, guess what? You're not going to have conversions. And if you don't have conversions, you're not going to have retention because there's going to be nobody there. So how are you going to show up today, drive traffic to your website, and generate sales? That's what I want to know. And then how are you going to do that every single day this week? Every day, no matter how tired you are, no matter how much you don't want to brush your hair and go live, no matter how much other things you have to do to get things out the door, you take 15 minutes every day and you commit to showing up and stop making excuses. We got this. I'm so proud of y'all. We have battled some very hard years and months. If you're still here, if you're still in business after the mess of the last few years on our economy, You're already winning. Now's not the time to give up on yourself. You're already ahead of everybody else that quit or everybody else that hasn't started yet. You're already ahead of them. Why are you letting you tell yourself you're not good enough? Commit, commit to showing up, commit to yourself. To make this everything you want it to be. It's our time. Go show up. Go generate some sales. We got to lock and load. We have about 14 more days. All right. Be consistent. Tabitha hit it right. Nailed it. Go live, send emails, and do all the things I teach us. You don't need to go buy another course and go do some more training and get another coach. You just need to do the work. Just do the work, because there are hundreds, if not thousands, of members in our Community that show up consistently, do the work, and are having major successes. And you think, well, yeah, but they have it. Well, yeah, but they have this. But yeah, but they have that. They all started from ground zero. Every one of them started at ground zero, including me. We just have to do the work. We just have to believe that we can do the work, and we have to understand that we have control over our businesses. It is not out of our control. So let's go do the work. All right. Let's go do the work. I'll see you next week. We're going to make some sales this week. I can feel it. Let's go make some sales. Have a great Monday. Let's get on it.
