Empringham explains how these needs interact in relationships and business, arguing that when all six needs are met in a business people become highly motivated.

Tony Robbins has a belief that at business mastery and at UPW unleash power within. We have six human needs. One of them is variety. We need variety or uncertainty. We need a little bit of variety uncertainty to keep us interested and excited about life. The opposite, of course, is certainty. We need certainty that this chair is going to hold, that the building's not going to fall down. We need certainty in our life. So if we've got a spouse or a loved one or a partner that gives a little bit of variety, a little bit of certainty, oh, my God, that's perfect. You don't want too much of each. Third one is connection. One want connection with other people. And the opposite of that one is we want to feel unique, so we want to feel connected, but we don't want to feel like. You don't want to feel like so and so's wife. You want to feel like Reina. You don't want to feel like, you know, Masha's husband. I want to feel like Scott. So you want the uniqueness, but you also want the connection. And then finally there's growth and contribution. And when you have all six of those in a business, you are, like, addicted to that. You are going to go all out on the business. And I was thinking about it.
