A brief personal reflection (YouTube video by Scott Empringham) on using loss as an opportunity to intentionally choose what to keep and discard in life. The speaker cites Tim Grover's Relentless — the idea that when your life is "shattered" you can pick up only the pieces that serve you — and gives concrete examples (ending a harmful relationship, leaving alcohol and limiting beliefs behind) to show how this made his life lighter.

Sometimes losing everything can be the absolute best thing for you. There's an author of a book called Relentless. Tim Grover. Tim Grover and Winning. And he talks about this concept about. Sometimes his players would come to him and their lives were shattered on the ground. And he would say, good, because here's your opportunity right now. All the pieces that are all shattered on the ground, you have a choice to pick up the ones you want and to leave the other ones on the ground. And when he said that, it hit me right between the eyes, because I thought that's. That's part and parcel of what I was doing and in the process of doing, and it made it more intentional. So, for example, there was a relationship that fundamentally wasn't good for me. Alcohol. I was leaving that on the ground. And there were certain beliefs about myself, attitudes, and certain things I was doing that I was going to leave on the ground and pick it up the pieces I wanted. And in a moment, my life became lighter.
