A short spoken reflection by Scott Empringham that emphasizes patience and faith with the repeated maxim "God's delays are not God's denials." Through two brief anecdotes — one about his son making a criticized but right decision, and one about the speaker facing rejection after adopting religious disciplines (baptism, quitting drinking) — the speaker argues that short-term criticism or delay does not mean blessings are denied and shares personal outcomes (restored family, improved health, better finances) as long-term evidence.

God's delays are not God's denial. That was a lesson that was. I'm still learning and I've learned over and over and over again. And I was on a walk with my son. He told me about this decision he made this right decision, but he was criticized this right decision. And I told him, sometimes there's going to be a delay between the blessings, but the right decision is always the right decision. And I was reminded of a situation where I was dating and out to dinner with a woman, and she's having a martini, and she looks at me and she goes, you're going to have a martini? I said, no, no, no. I. I was baptized and. And I quit drinking. She said, what church are you baptized in? I told her, as it's inconsistent with the word of wisdom, and there's also this thing called law of chastity. I talked to her about that, and needless to say, she wasn't thrilled with those decisions. And I felt rejected, I felt criticized. I felt a lot of things. And rather than feel appreciated for these great decisions I was making, these huge improvements I thought I was making in myself, the disciplines and this new focus I had, it was the opposite. And short term, I remember feeling pretty, pretty upset about it. But I believed and I had faith that there was blessings for me. I could never have imagined that I would have the blessing of remarrying my first wife, restoring my family, restoring my health levels. I never could have expected my finances and my entire world changed. So if you're in a situation where you're making sacrifices, you're making changes, and they're not appreciated, just remember God's delays are not God's denials. They're coming.
