Here we go. If you would just. 30 seconds. Name a little bit about yourself.
My name is James Lawrence, known as the Iron Cowboy. I've dabbled in the world of triathlon, broken a few world records. Most commonly known for doing 50 full distance Ironman triathlons. 50 days, 50 states. That's an Ironman a day for seven consecutive weeks. I now have the opportunity to go around the world speaking and helping people redefine their impossible and what their limits truly are.
Well, I had the privilege of hearing you speak today. Are there any mantras that sort of stick out in your head? Any affirmations, mantras do you think just rise above all else? For you?
Yeah, for me it's go all in and show up. And you know, you do that. And the other one is doubt me now. You know, wake up every single day, put your feet on the ground and say doubt me now.
Any two, three books that you think everybody should read.
Oh, man, let me pull out my. I'm a big audible person. I don't read, but I have audible and I've got a few that I love. There's always a few duds out there, but let's see. Okay, so I know one for sure is the subtle art of not giving up. Love that one. I just finished the Tiger woods book. I'm a big golfer and his story is incredible. One of the greatest comebacks, one of the greatest falls and then comebacks. And if you just watch the media, you can't truly understand what the dude's about. But man, unbelievable story. If you want to get behind the scenes of the greatest golfer in history of sports transcended the sport. The book Tiger woods is awesome. It's by Jeff Benedict. That one's incredible. So I'd say that one. And you know what, here's a real simple one. But it's impactful. It's called you'd are a badass. And it's by Jen Sincero. And it's simple principles that I think everybody should understand, but she just articulates it in a brilliant way. So those, those would be my. 1, 2, 3. Awesome.
You've obviously developed some strong habits. What are two or three habits? You think you've just changed your life.
Oh, man. Sleeping in. Everybody says I get up early. Forget that noise. Sleep in. Give your body, your mind a chance to recover. Habits, man. Just being consistent. A habit that everybody needs to develop is the habit of starting. It just paralyzes us. Just recently, this just happened to me. I put off a task for literally a month. And I woke up every day thinking about it. It consumed me all day. I went to bed going, ah, I didn't do that. I did it the other day. You know how long it took me? Three minutes. It took me three minutes. And it's plagued me for an entire month. So develop the habit of just starting. Just like, tick it off, just get it out. It's done. It's easy done.
Investments. Not necessarily. Financial, emotional, spiritual, relationship. What's the best investment you can think that you ever made?
Oh, man. Investment in your kids. I've got five kids. And the investment that you can make with them will pay you back bazillion. Not even a word, but a bazillion fold. Just because those kids will go out on massive ripple effect. And, man, my kids are getting to the age where they're a little bit older, and I'm gonna blink and they're all gonna be gone. And so it's in the scheme of things, I think I'm gonna look back and go, it wasn't a huge investment, but it was the best investment of time, energy, and love that I could have ever given.
Last question. After you pass on, if you could put a billboard, huge billboard, word or phrase on the earth as your legacy, what would that word or phrase be?
Redefine. Impossible.
And do you, brother, it's a pleasure.
Thanks, man.
Thank you.
