Hi everyone. Welcome to my YouTube channel. My name is Scott Selleck. I'm a real estate broker sales associate with Keller Williams in New Jersey and Florida. I've worked in real estate in Northern New Jersey for the past 31 years. I have a wealth of knowledge from selling homes along the NJ Gold coast from Fort Lee to Jersey City, NJ. I also spent the last 15 years focused in Bergen county and the Bergen county suburbs helping numerous clients with home sales, home purchases, rental needs and their relocation services. Let's dive into this and you if in the spring of 2023, my wife and I decided to sell a home in Leon, New Jersey with our three daughters having completed their education Leonia school system Our five bedroom was more than we really needed. The kids were spread out in colleges and working in all different parts of the United States. We experience what others go through when taking on such a significant personal project. Embarking on this journey was no small feat. Over several years we had accumulated many belongings, filled our finished basement, our full attic and our two car garage. The house also required some finished work to pull everything together. Balancing the physical demands of decluttering the house and the improvements with the emotional weight of parting from the house filled with memories was challenging. To tackle these challenges, we adopted a systematic approach that my team uses for clients who we represent. We coordinated with the local town services. We aligned our decluttering efforts with the Leonia Department of Public Works trash schedule over a four month period to clear out as much as possible that we could do ourselves. We leveraged online marketing places. Our daughters assisted us with putting items on Facebook Marketplace, turning used belongings into extra income for themselves. They love that. We invested in equipment. I purchased a heavy duty shredder from Amazon to handle old business documents to ensure secure disposal that was important to me. We donated generously, making multiple donations to the Veterans affairs and the local nonprofits in Englewood, passing on clothing, household items and books to those in need. We organized garage sales. We hosted several large garage sales over three months, which allowed us to clear out furniture accessories while engaging with our community. We hired a professional handyman to complete open projects. We closed out permits and also had a professional cleaning company come to prepare the house for sale. We enhanced the curb appeal by hiring a landscape service which revitalized our yard and mulched and edged to make it look great. We managed logistics. We rented a cargo van to transport personal items to storage facility in Fort Lee on our own and we collaborated with Alpha Movers for a seamless relocation to our new townhome in Edgewater. They were fabulous despite the challenges, the time commitment. We received multiple offers and we got the price we were looking for and the buyers were very grateful. They loved everything we did with the house and they couldn't be more excited to move into the neighborhood. Downsizing and selling a family home is a complex journey that intertwines logistical tasks with a deep emotional current sweep. Our experience underscores the importance of working with the real estate professionals who is a team player and has personal experience in planning knowledge of local resources. It's important for me to embrace the process as an opportunity to make things easier for my clients in any way I can. I take great pride in finding things to take off their plate and make things always easier for them and focus on the things that are in front of them. I find it's very important. One of my most important attributes is clear communication with the family members and respecting and understanding that I know that this is an emotional process. Now.
