motivation is keeping you poor (here's what to do instead)

Motivation is unreliable and keeps you stuck. Discipline, not motivation, builds wealth and success. Start with tiny commitments you can't fail at, like a five-minute workout or opening a book daily. Small wins compound into real change.

Motivation is fucking bullshit. No one tells you this. People just think that motivation is the right thing to do and it can actually get you places, but that's not true. That's literally not true. Everyone who has accomplished anything in their life knows this thing, that motivation will not get you far. There is another thing that you can actually implement and use in order to actually get whatever you desire, whether it's becoming fit, whether that's being savage in business, becoming a multimillionaire, literally anything that you want in your life, right, is determined by one thing. And that thing is none other than discipline. And if you do not know the difference between motivation and discipline, it's relatively simple. Motivation is the surge of what you feel when you just get motivated. That's like having the flu, essentially. It comes and goes. Like, for example, you feel motivated by the end of the year to actually change your life, and you write down your goals, and after 2 weeks you do jack shit. Then you just stay in the same place. Discipline, on the other hand, is doing the same thing consistently day after day, even when you're not feeling like it, right? So those are the main two differences. And everything and everyone that actually did, like, achieved some kind of success knows this, knows that he needs to use discipline instead of motivation. Now, that's all fun and dandy, but you might think to yourself, okay, how do I change myself from being dependent on motivation and not achieving anything with my life to actually achieving whatever I want in my life and being disciplined. So it's really, really, really simple. So the problem with motivation is it makes you feel like you can achieve everything and you can take on things that are bigger than what you can actually do. For example, motivation will get you into the gym lifting and saying to yourself that you're committing for like 5 times a week. But let's Let's be honest, Jack, you cannot do that, right? You're just starting out. Your body is going to be sore after one day. You're like a couch potato. You cannot do that. Discipline, on the other hand, a disciplined person will say, all right, I want to become fit. Let's look at like what I need to do. I need to eat healthy. So he will start by eating healthy. He then will go to the gym. One day he will do cardio for 20 minutes. One day he will do chest. One day he will do back. He will do small portions, all right, with relatively small commitment. Now another, for example, example that I can give you is reading a book, all right? A motivated person will just say, all right, I wanna read an entire book. He will just start and try to read like literally an entire book in one sitting. And then like the next day will try to do like 50 pages as well. But the thing that will happen— but the thing that will happen is relatively shortly you will understand that it's bigger than him, so he will not do it. And on third day, he will just quit. A disciplined person will say, "All right, I'm just going to open the book for the next 30 days." Just open the book. Doesn't matter if I read it or not. I'm not going to fail by just opening the book. That way you set such low expectations that you actually cannot fail. And when you cannot fail, you succeed. And when you succeed, guess what happens? That's actually how you build self-confidence and how you build habits. That way it actually becomes hard not to open the damn book. And if you open the damn book, you're going to read a sentence. And if you actually already read a sentence, you're just going to read the entire page. And then guess what? You're probably going to read the chapter as well. So that's the only difference that you need to take into consideration and into your mind. If you like this video, smash the like button and subscribe. See you on the next one.
