A short (≈2019) YouTube talk by Shari Caplan Stalino (founder of Connected Wellness) about how cannabis can support breast cancer care. The speaker reviews palliative benefits (reducing nausea, increasing appetite, regulating mood/decreasing anxiety, improving energy and sleep, and decreasing pain) and emphasizes that strains, cannabinoid ratios and formulations differ so patients should consult a medical cannabis physician. She cites lab/animal research from Dr. Guzmán, Dr. Abrams and Dr. Sánchez suggesting cannabinoids can inhibit breast cancer cell reproduction, prevent angiogenesis, reduce metastasis, and act as an adjunct to chemotherapy—protecting healthy cells while aiding cancer cell destruction. The video closes with contact information for Connected Wellness (email as spoken in the video) and a center in Boca Raton, Florida.

Hello, and welcome back to our channel. As many of you know, it is Breast Cancer Awareness month, and I thought that it would be an opportune time to share with you how cannabis can be helpful in the treatment of cancer. I'm Shari Caplan Stalino, founder of Connected Wellness. First, I want to speak with you about palliative care, and then I'd like to share with you how cannabis can aid in the treatment of cancer through some of the research and some of our anecdotal experiences of clinicians from around the country. So first, let's look at how cannabis can be helpful in palliative care. But before I do, I just want to share with you that not every strain of cannabis and not every formula is right for different areas of treatment. And this is why you need a medical cannabis physician to help guide you so they can share with you what strains are right for your treatment or the symptom symptoms that we're trying to treat, or what formulations are going to be right for you and what cannabinoids and the ratio of cannabinoids that are best for you. So, having said that, let's move on to talking about palliative care. So how can cannabis be helpful in palliative care? A few different ways. Number one, cannabis can be helpful in decreasing nausea. So there are certain strains and certain ratios of cannabinoids that can help with nausea, which is so important. You're nauseous, most patients will not eat, and we need you to be eating to nourish your bodies. The second way is that it can increase your appetite. So depending on what strains and what cannabinoids you're using, we can improve your appetite so you can nourish your body. The next way that it can be helpful is that it can help to regulate mood, it can decrease anxiety and agitation, and it can improve your mood. And it can also help you with your energy and to get a good night's sleep. And everybody knows that energy, a good night's sleep and eating are excellent ways to help the body regain its optimal state of well being. So cannabis can also decrease pain while it's increasing your energy and getting you to sleep at night. So different strains, different formulas can accomplish different things during your palliative care. The next thing I want to share with you is some of the research that's out there by Dr. Guzman, Dr. Abrams and Dr. Sanchez at the University of Madri, and the research that they're doing in the labs and some animal testing is on the different ratios of cannabinoids and how they can be effective in the treatment of cancer. So anecdotally we're seeing some of these results, but I want to start out with what they're actually seeing in their research. So number one, cannabis can stop the reproduction of breast cancer cells. It can prevent formation of blood vessels that is needed by the tum tumors to grow, and it can help prevent cancer from spreading. Cannabis is known to assist the chemotherapy, so not only does it help protect the healthy cells, it also aids in the treatment of destroying the cancer cells. If you or your loved one is going through the treatment of cancer, I urge you to speak to your doctor about adding cannabis as a part of supporting your treatment protocol for two reasons, aid in protecting the healthy cells while the chemotherapy is destroying the cancer cells. And two, you can improve the quality of patients lives by decreasing their negative symptoms from the cancer protocols and increasing their energy and increasing their positive mood. So I hope you find this information to be helpful. There's a lot more out there. We'd be more than happy to share more information with you. We'll be posting articles on our website, but if you'd like to speak with one of our physicians or you'd like to get more information from our center, you can always reach out@infoonenected.com and feel free to give us a call at our center in Boca Raton, Florida.
