In this interview, Dave (owner) and Natalie (co‑owner) of House of Auto Details in Bedford discuss how the business was born after Dave was laid off, combining Dave’s auto‑body expertise with Natalie’s business‑management background. They describe what they love about detailing—seeing a vehicle transformed from dirty to fresh, hearing customers’ pride, and even preventing sales because owners become attached to the restored car. Natalie emphasizes her role in educating clients, clarifying that professional detailing goes far beyond basic washing or vacuuming, involving deep cleaning, restoration, and scent work. The conversation highlights repeat customers, the emotional payoff of satisfied clients, and the founders’ commitment to making customers “fall in love” with their vehicles again.

Hi, I'm Dave, owner of House of Auto Details in Bedford. I was laid off. I guess that was the initial impetus to do something. Between Natalie and I, we decided instead of looking for a job, we would create our own. And so with my background in auto body and vehicles and Natalie's in business management, this is what we decided to do.
Hi, I'm Natalie and I'm the owner of House of Auto Details and Crown Bedford. I think the thing that I enjoy the most, like, David said is really when customers are happy, when they bring the car in the morning or at night and they drop it off and they almost feel a little bit embarrassed about the condition of the vehicle, and then they come and pick it up and it looks so clean, it smells so good, that they feel, as we say, they fall in love with their vehicle again. And that feeling for me is It's like payment almost, because I know what it takes to get a vehicle back to clean and fresh and new. It takes a lot of work. So when customers appreciate that, I really feel proud of what we're doing here.
We've had customers bring their car in, clean it up, I'm gonna sell it, and then we see them a year later and they still have the car. They say, it looks so good, I feel so good, I didn't want to sell it.
I think I bring my personality I really like speaking with people, interacting with them, and educating them about what we're doing. I think that a lot of people don't know truly what detailing is. They think it's just vacuuming a car or washing it, and those things are really a very, very small part of detailing. So getting to speak with people and telling them more about what we're doing, I find people's eyes are just open and they see that we're really doing something that's really big here, something that changes how they perceive their vehicles.
What do I enjoy most about detailing? I think it's the results. I mean, sometimes they come in and they can look bad, but at the same time, it's the challenge, I think. Seeing the happy customer at the end.
House of Auto Detail's goals are to be the place you go to when you want to have detailing done right.
