In this short video, Shaun Whynacht of BlueCowCreative.ca warns business owners about Google’s upcoming algorithm change scheduled for April 21, 2015, which will prioritize mobile‑friendly websites in search results. He explains that over 60% of Google searches now occur on mobile devices, making mobile optimization essential. Shaun demonstrates how to identify whether a site is marked “mobile‑friendly” in Google search results and points viewers to Google’s Mobile‑Friendly Test tool for detailed diagnostics. He outlines the risks of ignoring the change—lower rankings and reduced visibility on mobile searches—and offers practical remediation options: using services like DudaMobile, switching to a responsive WordPress theme, or undertaking a full site redesign for older sites. The video concludes with a call to follow BlueCowCreative on Facebook for further assistance.

Hey guys, it's Shaun Whynacht here from BlueCowCreative.ca. Well, Google is at it again, and I wanted to create this quick video just to make you aware of what's coming our way. Now, this is, this is big news. This isn't just a, a minor thing. Google has announced that what they're going to be doing on April 21st is going to make a significant impact to the search world. They are changing their algorithm to better make the search results optimized for mobile use because right now over 60% of all Google searches are being done by a mobile device. Now, what does that mean for you? Well, number one, is your site ready for that? Now, how do you know that? Well, did you look at it on a mobile phone? Is it optimized? Is it responsive? Does it change the formatting so that you don't have to scroll left and right to see the stuff? Everything is in a list order, very easy to use. Now, wherever you're seeing this video, whether it's on YouTube, on Facebook, or even on our blog page down below, I'm going to show you something to look for. I'm showing you a screenshot here from my phone when we did a search for our company. And when you do it for yours, do a Google search for your business, and beside the search results, does it have mobile friendly? If it does, That means that your site is considered by Google to be mobile-friendly, and by that means you're going to not really have any problems. Okay, the other thing, if you're unsure, I've also posted a link that Google has put out to allow you to test your site and see if it is mobile responsive. That also come up and tell you any problems that lists on your site. Now, what can you do if you're not responsive? Well, you've got a couple options. One, you can ignore it and then fall down the search rankings, but we don't want to do that. 2 is you can sign up and get a, a mobile responsive version of your site. There's, there's plenty out there. Duda, DudaMobile, D-U-D-A-Mobile.com is a great site for that. Or 2, you can talk to your web developer and get a mobile responsive theme if using WordPress so it will work for that. Now if your site's fairly old or even up to 5 to 10 year range, it probably isn't mobile. So you're going to need to obviously have it redesigned. So depending on how important this is for you, you need to check this out. April 21st is that deadline that they're rolling this out. So if you're not mobile, you're not going to be found on the search if somebody's looking from a mobile device. Check us out even more.
