Shaun Whynacht shows how to replace your Facebook business page's default Messenger icon with a headshot. Use a low-resolution file (3-5 KB) and go to Settings > Messaging > Display Photo. A personal image makes one-to-one conversations feel less like talking to a logo.

So here we are on our Facebook page, and if you've been on Facebook with your page, you know that most commonly your profile image is your logo or your brand. Now you'll also know that if people start to message you and you reply back, the little icon in the chat is going to be that icon. It's not that personable, but how can we change that? In today's video, I'm going to show you exactly how you can change that with a new feature that Facebook has rolled out. So Before we get started into that, please subscribe to our channel. Would love to get more subscribers and to show you more of these types of videos. So let's hop right into it. Once you are the admin of your page, you'll notice obviously you got all these kind of options on the left-hand side. Now this setting is housed in the very bottom under Settings and then under Messaging. And then we're gonna scroll to the bottom of this section. You'll see Display Photo here, and as it shows, it's the icon for ours. Now we're gonna change the photo and I'm gonna upload a version of the photo that I have here. Now I did know that if I use like a 3 or 4 or 5, you know, a large file, it didn't upload in there. So what I ended up doing was either resizing it down or I went and did a Google image search for my name and I picked a lower res version that I had there because I know my headshot is showing up on those image searches. The other thing to know is even though I just clicked upload on that image, It didn't live change, but watch this. If we refresh the page, boom, there's the headshot. Now, in the example here, even if they message, now the response will have my image, more personable. Now they're engaging with a human and they'll actually see up here the name of the person from the company. And in the display name format, you can change that. You can use full name. So I could change this so it'll actually have my first and last name or first and initial of last name like that. But I'm just gonna keep it as first name in here. That's fine for what I'm doing. So those are the options that make it more personable. This did not change the display icon or your profile image on your page. That still remains your brand if that's what you have in that place. Now, if you've got your headshot in there, you don't need to do this because it's gonna pull that profile image into that. So if you're a realtor or somebody that's personal branding, you don't need to really worry about that. But in most cases, businesses are using their brand icon in this section, and then that messaging section should have an image because we are engaging one-to-one with people on Messenger chat.
