Hey, welcome to this online training. My name is Shaun Whynacht. I own and operate a marketing company called Blue Cow Marketing based in the East Coast of Canada, and I wanted to put together this training because I have been using ChatGPT for well over a year now, um, every single day. And many of the clients that I work with, um, are new to ChatGPT and using AI for, you know, running their business. Most people are using it just for generating content, and I realize that there's so much more that can be done. And even around understanding how to talk to it— what do you put into ChatGPT to get the best out of it? Now, there are many, many videos out there, and there are people out there that are way more involved than I am in it, but I wanted to put this free course— we'll call it a course, training video series, whatever whatever you wanna call it, together to make it readily available to those in my circle as well as around the world. So I'm gonna go through the basics of what I've learned in it over the series of videos, and these are all on YouTube, so at the end of each video, there'll be the thumbnail for the next video, so you'll be able to continue through. And feel free to share it. If you've got any questions also about anything that I say in this, please put a comment below the video, and I will do my best to respond back to that and also share, subscribe, like, do all those fun things that are there. So let's hop right into it. So what you need to, to understand with ChatGPT is that it is a generative AI tool, which means that it will generate content based off of what they call LLMs, which are large language models. Break it down. Basically means there is a database of knowledge and, and information that has learned through what is online. So, um, it knows some information about what's online. That's what it's going to start to generate content from. But also, every time that you start a chat, uh, with it— and that's just the kind of the method in which you communicate with it— the more you give it, the better it will become at what you are asking it to do. And unlike a human where you have that ability to kind of speculate and come up with ideas and things like that, um, just on your own, free-flowing, you need to think of ChatGPT as a very literal person, which means that if you don't give it direction as to what exactly you want, you're going to get very vague answers. You're going to get, you know, a lot of generic type of stuff out of it because it doesn't know what exactly— you can't read your mind. So let's hop right into this. So what you're seeing here on the screen is the ChatGPT interface at this current state, which is March 22nd, 2024. Now, if you're watching this video a little later than that, the interface may change, it may not. Left-hand side, this is kind of the list of all the different chats that your account would have. Now there are two different types of accounts you can have. There's a free version and then there's the paid version, which is not that much, like $30 a month, which what you get out of it, well worth it. I highly recommend that you upgrade and get the paid version. So as you go and you create these chats, they'll be listed here on the left side. You can always go back to them and and get the content from them and also add more to it and continue that on. So think about a chat as a conversation. So, you know, when you start a conversation with somebody and they don't know too much about what's going on, the more you talk to them, the more they're going to learn, the more they're going to know about what it is that you want. So if you come back to that conversation and add more to it, it knows the knowledge of what you've you've already spoken about. It also knows what it has already generated for you. So where do we start with this? It all starts with, with having a proper workflow. And what I recommend that you do is you come up with a starting prompt. Now, it's the first time I've used the word prompt in this video. You may have heard it before if you've been watching, but what a prompt is, it's a, a command that you give the chat to then respond to. And a lot of times people just go in and they'll say something like, you know, start a new ChatGPT chat and they will say, hey, write me an article on this, write me a blog post, write me an email about this. Very generic, okay? Doesn't know who you are, has no idea who you are. It's just taking its knowledge from the internet and it's just pulling some stuff together. But if you create a prompt that initially starts the chat that sets the tone for who you are as a business person and then helps it write the content from that. So what I'm going to do is we're going to start out with generating a prompt. Now I'm going to use myself because obviously I know most about myself, and that's the one that I'm going to use. So We're gonna go into ChatGPT and we're going to say, I need you to help me generate— and one thing you'll notice when I, when I write in these type of videos, I will have typos and stuff, so a lot of backspacing going on. So I need you to help me generate a starting prompt that I can use each time I begin a new chat. The purpose of this is to get you to know who I am, my business, and the tone in which I would like to communicate. Okay, so there, I'm talking to it. I'm telling it what I want. Now here's the cool part that most people starting out don't know, is you can ask it, what do you need to do your job the best? So I'm not going to just hit enter because it's going to start it. Hold down shift and hit enter and make a new paragraph. Um, please tell me what questions you'd like me to answer so that you can create the best starting prompt possible. All right, so I'm going to hit enter on this and we'll see what it generates here. So this is how it works, and then it starts to, to do this, right? So to create a starting prompt perfectly suits your needs. So here it's going to then ask me what it needs to, to be answered, okay? So we're going to let it go through its thing here. And sometimes this goes fast, sometimes it takes a little bit for, for this to happen. All right, so let it go through. And I don't know if it's going to say 5, 10, 15 questions, but we'll see what comes up here. Now I could have said give me 5 questions that will help you do it, and then it will generate 5 questions. Okay, so there we go. So it says, feel free to skip any of the questions you're not comfortable answering and don't find relevant. The more information, the better. Okay, so here's what you can do. You can either copy and paste this and put it in your prompt, or you can just reference the number. Okay, so I'm going to do the number reference here. So the other part is give it praise, thank it for doing its job, and it will actually start to do a better job for you. All right, so I'm going to say, thank you for this, here are my answers, space, 1. Okay, so we're going to go up here. 1 is personal and business introduction. Can you give a brief outline of who you are, any personal details comfortable with, in your business industry and what it does? Okay, so what I'm going to do here is I'm going to go ahead and get my bio from another site here. So I'm gonna say, um, my name is Shaun, I founded— here is my bio. Okay, so I'm gonna go and I'm going to look it up here. So I just like looking online because there's different versions that are out there that I like to use. Uh, there we go. This is the one from the website that I like to use the most. Oh, that didn't happen there. What's happened? Let me go back here. There we are. Okay, so this was kind of a fun written one, and the reason I'm putting this in there is because it's written in the kind of the tone in which I like my content, uh, when I'm talking about myself, uh, to be, to be presented. So I'm going to paste that in there, and now I'm going to go down. I'm going to go number 2. So objections, uh Objective and expectives— expectations, sorry. Uh, what's your primary objective of using this chat? Okay, so what I'm going to do for the sake of your time here is I'm going to answer these, and then we will skip ahead in the video and, um, we'll continue when I'm at the end. Okay, so I took the time— took me probably about 15 minutes to write out the answers to these questions here, and I just want to kind of go through them so that you have an understanding of, of the type of information that I put in there. So you saw when I left that it was the bio that I pasted into the, the list. Okay, so number 2, primary objective. So my primary objective using this chat is to help generate content for my business and my marketing. This can be emails, blogs, video descriptions, and social posts. I want the chat to be as consistent as possible of who I am as a business owner and what my business is. Now for you, it could be anything, right? There could be a different use case for you using ChatGPT, but make sure you are as clear as concise. And you can do this you know, a different time, right? You don't have to, you know, just stick to the one prompt that's there. You can create multiples based off what you're doing. Number 3, my preferred communication tone. So this is, this is key because with ChatGPT, you could actually go in there and say, hey, you know what, write this email like Chris Rock, or write this email like Oprah, and it will know that because that information is online. And it's able to pull that from its large language model. And you can really have some fun with some of the content. We'll get into that in some of the lessons as we go through this. So we go down here. My preferred communication tone is casual with a taste of humor. I'm an entrepreneur father and I love dad jokes. I like my sense of humor to come across in my content and not be too overpowering. I like those that read the content to feel trusting in my knowledge. Right? So you see what I'm doing there. Number 4, the challenges I face in my business is that there's so much information online with marketing as well as many overnight gurus. That I want to show that I have been around the industry for over 2 decades and I really know how to help businesses implement systems and tools to run their operations and marketing. The areas I specialize in: CRM implementation, marketing automation, content creation. So again, give it information about who you are and how you want to be perceived because it will learn that and it will build the content around that. Even if you are responding, writing an email to respond to a customer inquiry, it will know this if the chat has again with this knowledge. I like the answers to be as— oh, so then it was like, how do you want the answers to be? They want to be long or short? I said I'd like my answers to be concise and thought-provoking, try to get to the point as quickly as possible unless I prompt you to be more lengthy or detailed. I plan to use ChatGPT daily in my business. So if you say, hey, every, every now and then, no problem, you put it in there. It will be a mixture of outgoing communication to internal ideation and some technical code building. Just to let it know. I'll tend to create a new chat for each focused item each time, and that'll help me keep things organized. I hope this helps you build my opening prompt. Here is additional information that I think you may need to know. So I wanted to put in information about the business name, the phone number, and the email. The reason for that is when it's writing emails or anything that is promotional, it won't just put insert website address here, insert phone number. It knows it because you've just given it to it. It'll actually write it into the content. Okay, so now I'm going to end with, please form or generate and format the opening prompt I'm to use each time so that I can save it. All right, so let's see what we got going here. So we're going to hit that. So this is based on the confirmation information you provided. Here's a tailored starting prompt. Okay. So it's now, it's writing what I will need to copy and paste into it. So again, it's going to take a lot of the stuff that you said in there, but it's just going to formulate it properly. Now one of the things that, you know, I love, I personally love about AI and ChatGPT is taking the time to go ahead and give it, you know, the, the right amount of information, the right tone. And when we get into showing you how I use it for podcasts and generating content from that, you will see that it's not just somebody going in here and saying, make me a generic post, right? Because then you get the plagiarism and all that kind of stuff. You need to train it and feed it. So here we go. It made this prompt here. This is great. Now what I'm going to do is I'm going to copy just that middle part here, copy to my clipboard, and I created a Google Doc here. So I'm going to call this Blue Cow Marketing Opening Prompt, and I'm just going to paste it in here. The reason for that is that I just want to have it so I can open it and, uh, copy and paste it again. Now what you could do is you could change this over here to be opening prompt. So you can go rename and say same thing prompt. And now each time you do a new one, you can come in here and just copy and paste that, highlight just that part that it generated, copy it to the clipboard, and now you're going to go ahead and create a new prompt. Okay, so that is a good starting point. Now, one of the things you can also do, and this is what I recommend, is all that information that you put up here, um, in this part, you could copy and paste that and make a new opening prompt by changing some of the things that are in here. Maybe you want to do an opening prompt because you just want to focus on writing landing page copy. So you can say, hey, Here's, you know, for landing page copy, what do you need from me? And it will ask you those things. So you can make opening prompts for different elements, but it's gonna save you the time each time having to write it all out. So let's think about something that very commonly people would want. Okay, so social media, right? We, we, we tend to, to think about or try to come up with content for our social media accounts. So let's go ahead and use ChatGPT to create some social media posts for you. So we're going to go up to the top and we're going to say ChatGPT. Now by default it goes to ChatGPT-4. That is the most current one, the most common one. There's also 3.5 that are here, which are great for, you know, everyday tasks, as they say. Now with the GPT-4, we're limited to 40 messages in 3 hours. That are here. So there's some, some limitations to that. So now I'm in here. What I'm going to do is I'm going to go in here and I'm going to take this and I'm going to say, in a moment I'm going to ask you for help coming up with a— we'll do a week's worth. You could do a month's worth of social media, a week's worth of LinkedIn and Facebook posts for my business. But first, I want to give you an opening prompt so you can know how to create content in the tone I want. Here it is. Paste it. Okay. Enter. So now it's probably gonna acknowledge it here, right? Great to meet you. Da da da da. Before we start, do you have any specific themes? Product launches. So now it's starting to talk back to you as to what you want to have here. Now, a cool feature in here is this read aloud. Now you're probably not going to hear this when I click it, but if I click it in my headphones, right? So I'm going to stop it so you can actually have it read it back to you. And a lot of times when you are writing content like blogs or emails, it's great to have it audibly read back to you. So that you can actually hear it. You also notice down below there's other icons. There's copy— this will copy and paste. There's regenerate— so if it generated something and you're like, ah, I think it can do better, or it might error out sometimes, you can click that and regenerate. Or it just wasn't great, so you can give it the feedback by the bad response down here. Okay, so now it was asking me before we start, do we have any specific themes, product launches, or events coming up that we'd like to highlight in the post? Or are there particular aspects of the services like CRM implementation, marketing automation? Okay, so what I'm going to say is I'm looking for posts that give a general overview of the different services that I offer at my business. Now, if I did that, very generic. Okay, now I'm going to give it some more parameters. I would like to do one post per week on each of those platforms. I like posts that begin with a question. Don't make them too lengthy. And also, if possible, can you suggest imagery that would support them. Lastly, I'm okay if you find external resources that I can link to for the post, but not necessary. All right, so we're gonna pop that in there and we're gonna see what it comes up with. So it's like, let's outline a week's worth of posts for LinkedIn and Facebook, keeping them concise and suggesting imagery to complement the text. I'll keep an eye out for external resources. So now it's starting to create this. Monday, CRM implementation. Tuesday, marketing automation. So it took the information that I had here and it's starting to generate this content. Now I could have said, hey, just focus on marketing automation and make those, right? I just focus on this and make those. Um, so it'll start to generate all this content. So this is, this is how you can, could really streamline the stuff that you do. Now, I strongly recommend that you read all the content that it creates because, um, I'll show you here in a second. Right now, you may look at this and you're like, hey, this is amazing, this is perfect, right? But maybe there's a time where they've generated something, you're like, it's just not hitting the mark. Okay, so I know that I had said about having humor, so, you know, let's just see, uh, what we've got here. So, are juggling spreadsheets and managing customer relations. Let's talk about how CRMs streamline processes, save time, improve customer— learn more about transforming business. Okay, very stiff, very cold. Okay, it didn't really pull in the humor that's there. Okay, so then I can say down here, thank you, I like how you formatted this, but I would like to have a bit more humor in these posts. Please redo them. No problem. Unlike an actual person, you could ask it to redo its work over and over and over again, and it's never going to get frustrated or anything. It's just going to do a better job at it. So immediately what we're going to see here is it's going to start to build in some of the humor in the content that it's there. And I'm going to point something out. Now, you may have thought, hey, in the initial prompt you said you liked humor, and when it generated the content, it didn't make humor. So why is that? Well, it knows that I liked humor, but it started out more professional. Now, I said add some humor in there. Until Sunday is done here. I also mentioned in my opening prompt that I like dad jokes. So in this first one here, why did the spreadsheet go to therapy? Because it had too many relationship problems. That's a dad joke right there. So it pulled in the style of which the humor when I asked for it down the road. So this is going to be a better type of, of post or content. So Now that we have that, okay, that's a week. So now I could have done a month or 2 weeks or whatever. Now when you're starting to build out your content, um, you can go ahead and build other content from this. So let's say we're going to use a CRM implementation. Now I'm going to break it down a bit further and say this is great and just the style I like. Now, can you generate a LinkedIn article on the topic of Monday's topic? Write it with the same style of humor but make it— now if you put things in these, these square brackets, it will focus on it a bit more— make it 250 to 500 words, and include at least 2 to 3 bullet points. Write it in the first person and end it with an action item the reader can do in their business. Within the next 24 hours. Okay, so now it's starting to write content around that. Right now I'm not going to go in and read all this, but as you can see, what we're doing here is we're starting to formulate and base it off the content. So everything above where you're currently at can be referenced and it's learned. So the more you go into this the deeper the knowledge will be. And you could come back, you know, to this chat. Maybe, you know, over the next week you're doing other chats, and now it's— you're doing next week's content. You can just come back into this chat and say, okay, let's generate another week's worth of content, but don't repeat the content you already created above. And then it will start to generate that from there. So that's kind of an overview of, of how you can start to use some of the basic stuff with the prompts. What I'm going to do in the next video is tell you how you can actually leverage this to enhance existing content you have, to help you with emails that have already been written, as well as possible responses that you have received that you need help with. Okay, so let's finish this right there and check the next video if you got time. If not, come back and check it out again. Like, comment, subscribe. Anything you saw in this video, please put it in the comments down below. I'd love to answer these for you, and I'm excited that you are going on this journey with you— or with me— and that I'm able to give you this type of help.
