In this instructional video, Shaun Whynacht demonstrates how to permanently delete an old Instagram account. He begins by showing where the delete‑account link is hidden within the Instagram app – either via the profile Settings menu (under Help → Help Center → search “delete account”) or by using a direct URL provided in the video description. He explains the option to temporarily disable the account versus fully deleting it. Shaun advises users with many posts to first request a data download (via the “Download a Copy” feature) which can take up to 24 hours, emphasizing that once the account is deleted the data cannot be recovered. He then walks through the deletion confirmation page, selects a reason for deletion, re‑enters the password (demonstrating password retrieval from LastPass), and confirms the deletion. Instagram schedules the account for removal one day later (May 27th in the example). The video ends with a call to like, subscribe, and ask questions in the comments.

So in this video, I'm going to walk you through how to properly delete an old Instagram account. I am logged into an old account that I have that was still active that I want to get rid of. Now, if you've ever tried to delete an account, you know it's not easy to find the link to do so. You possibly have never found it. So let's go ahead and look where we think it should be. If you go to your profile and go to settings, most commonly it should be here. The only thing you're going to be left to find at the very bottom is a link to temporarily disable the account. You could click that if you want to disable it, but let's go through the steps of actually figuring out how to delete the account. You can either visit the links in the, in the description below the video, and I'll give you the exact link to deleting the account. Or if you don't have that, you can always go to your settings in here. Go to Help, go to Help Center, search for delete account, how to delete the account. And what you're going to do is you're going to scroll down to this Delete Your Account option. Now, if you have a lot of content on your account, you can actually go to this Download a Copy and request all your posts and images from Instagram to be given to you. This may take up to 24 hours for them to compile it all, but then you'll get a download link and you'll have all that content saved before you actually delete the account. If you delete the account, none of that information is able to be recovered. So I don't care about what's on this account. I'm going to click Delete My Account, and then it takes you over to this page here and it says, why do you want to delete? And then it puts in the name of your account and you pick one in here. So I'm just going to say that, uh, I created a second account., and it's going to ask me to re-enter my password. Now I have everything saved in LastPass, so I'm going to go ahead and find my password for that, because if you're like me, you don't remember passwords for everything. So I'm going to go ahead and copy the password here, and we're going to paste it in there, and I'm going to say delete the account. Confirm. And let it do its thing. And it says now your account will be deleted on May 27th. So that is one day from today, that account will be deleted. So that is how you delete your Instagram accounts.
