How To Test Organic Video Posts On Facebook

Shaun Whynacht shows how to use Facebook's Post Testing feature in Creator Studio to A/B test organic video posts. You can test up to four variants over 10 minutes to 24 hours, measuring reactions, comments, shares, views, reach, or clicks. Change only one variable per test, like the headline or video cut, to get clear results.

Have you ever wished you had the ability to figure out which type of organic post is going to perform the best, give you the most clicks, you know, the videos, all those elements? Well, I want to introduce to you today Post Testing by Facebook. I'm Shaun Whynacht with Blue Cow Marketing. In today's video, we're going to be looking at this feature that Facebook has rolled out in their Creator Studio. And how do you get to Creator Studio? Just go to your Facebook page, look for Publishing Tools, and then you can find Creator Studio right there. Let's hop right into it. Now, this right now at the time of doing this video, um, allows us to do post testing for video posts, uh, and basing on that, what this allows you to do is you can take various versions of a video post and it will then send it out to fans and followers of your page, even people that normally would not see your content because they haven't been engaged. And in a set period of time, based on the metric you want to rank it on, The one that gets the most of that will then become the post that goes out on your Facebook page. So let's go ahead and jump right in here. I'm going to go ahead and create a test. And the interface is pretty basic. Uh, we're not going to actually upload elements and assets here, but I'm going to show you what it really does. So on the left-hand side, under test details, just give it a name. You can give it a description. This is just for your own internal use, but down here is where we get into the nuts and bolts of everything. You're choosing your key metric based on the video. So which one are you going to look as the top performer? Is it based on the one that has the most comments, shares, 1-minute video views, reactions, people reached, or link clicks that are in there? So you can choose whichever one you want. We're going to go with reactions for just to choose one. The other key element you need to choose is the test duration. This is the amount of time this test is going to run. So if we choose 10 minutes, it means the moment we launch this test, it's going to then start to spread it out, show it in newsfeeds of people that are following your page. Page, and after 10 minutes, it's going to look at the different posts that you've chosen in the list here and say which one had the most reactions. It's going to turn that into the post and it's going to put it on your Facebook page. And then obviously it's then going to stay there and be reached out to, to the rest of the audience that's there. So if you've got a large audience that's fully engaged, very quick to engage, maybe 10 minutes is a good time. But for most people, I would say you stick in between the, the 1 hour to even up to the 24 hours, which is the maximum that's there. Now, if it's something you want to get out in the day, 24 hours is not going to work because it's going to go out, uh, and then it's then going to become a post, um, you know, the next day. So I'm going to choose 3 hours that are here. Um, and then over on the right side, this is where you can start to upload your video, put the title, the description, um, and then you can go and say new. So you can go, um, up to 4 different posts in the test. So changing your video elements or changing your headlines, um, you know, the titles of the video, it's key in testing to change one variable, right? That's going to be the key in running a proper test. So if you want to test different title headlines, put the same videos in there, same description, just change these. Or you want to try different, um, videos in here, but everything else is the same, do that. And then you can go ahead and you schedule the test to run at a future date and time or publish that test. It's as easy as that. Simple click, set it, and then it will do its thing, and then it will publish it as the post. This is a great way to build up proper organic testing. There's, you know, a little added work to have different variations in there, but I wouldn't say go out of your way and just say, I'm going to purposely create different versions of the video. You know, there are times where you will get different versions of the video, uh, or different cuts or edits, and you may want to test them that way. So check it out. It is the post test feature in Facebook content library, um, in the Creative Studio. So if you like this video, please go ahead and subscribe to our YouTube channel. We've got other videos just like this and on other marketing content, and we will hopefully be creating more content as this feature becomes widely used and more features come in there. So thanks for watching this video. I'm Shaun with BlueCowMarketing.ca.
