In this brief, impassioned monologue, Shaun Whynacht uses his upcoming wedding as a metaphor to urge business owners to fully commit to their enterprises and embrace social media. He recounts an email from a prospective client whose internal committee feared Facebook, labeling it “dangerous.” Shaun frames this fear as an ideal opportunity, arguing that businesses hesitant about social media must decide whether they are ready to grow. He describes the initial discomfort of adopting platforms like Facebook, then highlights the payoff: increased customer engagement, referrals, and positive word‑of‑mouth. The core message is a call to action – “marry your business,” commit to change now, and stop waiting for the internet to pause.

Hey everybody, it's Shaun Whynacht. I know it's been a while since I posted a rant video, but things have been really busy and let me explain to you why. Well, coming up this weekend, well depending on when you watch this video, it may have been a couple weekends ago, but when we're taping this, this coming weekend, this coming Saturday, I'm getting married and that's why I want to talk to you about a word. And the word is written right up there on the wall. It's called commit. Now, you know, when you're getting married, you're committing to that person that you're marrying, but I'm going to talk to you on the sense of something else, committing to your business, committing to what you want to do and how you want to move forward. Now I received an email this week from a potential client who was having some issues with kind of a committee that was making the decision whether they were going to hold a social media workshop or not. Well, one of their holdups was that they were kind of afraid of Facebook and social media, so they termed it as dangerous. Now in my mind, that is the ideal client for us as a business. Now if you're one of those people that are out there and you're kind of scared of the whole social media game, you know, and what's happening, you really need to step back for a second and say, am I ready to commit to grow my business? Am I ready to commit to move it forward? And if you're going to do that, it's going to be uncomfortable. As with anything new, it's not going to seem that easy for you, in the get-go. But once you get over that initial hurdle and then you're going through the paces and doing it and seeing that interaction with your customers and how they're talking about you in a positive way and the products and the services that you do, you're going to say, hey, this social media thing, this is fantastic. Because you're going to start posting things and then you're going to see some clients come into your business and they're going to say, hey, I saw that on your Facebook page, you know, or I saw so-and-so was in here and they were posting about this and talking about that. Then you're going to see the true power of how you can use social media. So really, the message that I want to talk to you about and tell you about right now in this short video is you need to commit to moving forward. The internet and the world is not going to stop and wait for you to catch up. You need to move forward now. You need to commit to those changes and put yourself in a better place for your business. So go ahead. I'm getting married this weekend. Why don't you marry your business and say, let's build a life together and move it forward. So let's commit to making it happen.
