In this concise video, Shaun Whynacht of Blue Cow Creative outlines three common myths about social media marketing and offers practical guidance to avoid them. The first myth is that instant success is typical; Shaun notes that less than 1% achieve rapid results and stresses that sustained effort is required. The second myth is that social media is free; while platform registration is cost‑free, effective growth demands time, sweat equity, or paid promotion such as ads or boosted posts. The third myth is that any post will be read; Shaun explains that content must be engaging, timely, and relevant, and that posting strategy (day, time, format) matters. He advises keeping a log of posts, analyzing what works, and iterating to improve performance. The video concludes with a call‑to‑action to visit BlueCowCreative.ca and the company’s Facebook page for more resources.

Hey, it's Shaun Whynacht from Blue Cow Creative. Let's talk about social media, 'cause that's what we do, and let's talk about the top 3 misconceptions when it comes to using social media. Number 1 is that people have had instant success with their social media strategy. While this is true in less than 1% of people that have done it, it's very hard to achieve. And now with more and more people doing it, and everybody using social media in their daily lives, hitting that instant success is really a hard target to reach. So what you're gonna have to do is realize that it's gonna take some work. Number 2, social media should be free. Now while registering for the platforms are free and setting up your pages are free, as with anything, just like starting a business, you're going to need to invest some time. Now whether that's sweat equity, whether that's hiring somebody to help you do it, or even get some paid promoted posts and paid promoted pay-per-click advertising out there. That's really the great way to grow your online presence and get people knowing that you're online. And the last thing is that if you post something, people should read it. That is not the case. If you post something, it needs to be engaging, it needs to cut through that clutter, and it needs to be relevant to your audience. So take into account things like the time of day that you're posting, the time of week that you're posting, what you're posting, whether it's imagery, whether it's videos, whether it's headlines, text, those kind of things. Keep a log of everything that you do and what has great success and what has not so great success so that you can avoid the mistakes and wasting time and actually capitalize on using that time to get those really successful posts out there. So it's gonna take time, it's not gonna be free, and you're not gonna have instant success. So keep that in mind so you won't get discouraged But social media is the most highly sought out marketing and promotions tool growing this day. So use your social media wisely.
