The 3-Video Opt-in Strategy to Build Instant Authority

Shaun Whynacht walks through building a 3-video opt-in series that establishes authority and converts leads. Keep the total runtime under 60 minutes, deliver all three videos immediately on the thank-you page, and focus on broad, on-brand topics that provide real value before asking for payment.

So you want to create a video series as an opt-in or lead magnet for your ideal audience. And you may be asking yourself, how do I do that? What length should it be? What should I talk on? And I recently just gave advice to a client in a Loom video just before recording this one. And I wanted to share that wisdom with you. So think about this. The idea of creating a lead magnet or an opt-in is to help somebody. And Frank Kern said it best years ago when he said the best way that you can prove to somebody that you are worth helping them is to actually help them before they actually pay for you to help them. So that's what your content should do. You should never be going into this to say, I need to create a 3-video series because I need to create a 3-video series. You need to know that you have the knowledge, the wisdom, the experience to help somebody overcome something. So that in mind, think about it this way. Unless you are in the business of clearly and specifically helping people with a unique problem, your opt-in should not be about that unique problem. So here's an example. Maybe you're a coach and you coach on multiple different things. So instead of saying, you know, in my case, You know, I do marketing automation. I can help people with their website. Instead of me saying, I have a 3-video series on how to help you build a funnel page for a free ebook. While there may be people out there that might find that appealing to them and they're in that mind space at that time that they're writing an ebook and they want to know how to do it, I'm very much siloing and narrowing the potential audience. Instead, if I said I have a 3-video series that's going to help you first identify what type of lead magnet or opt-in you should be developing for your business, and then 2, in the second video, we're going to walk through how to Write out, design a funnel and opt-in page so that you can take that lead magnet idea that you identified in video 1 and bring it to fruition. And lastly, in number 3, we're going to teach you how to promote that lead magnet. What I did there was now I created an opt-in, a 3-video series that has a wider swath, a wider spread to speak to a larger audience. It still keeps the integrity of what it is that I speak about, help about, teach about, and get hired about. That is what you need to do. Now, when it comes to the length of this, my recommendation is this: the 3 videos in total should be under 60 minutes because you don't want people to look at this and say, okay, this is what I want. And I look at the first video and it's 45 minutes. Uh, I only got 20 minutes right now. I'm going to put it off, right? The moment they opt in is the most interested they are for the content you have. I mean, raise your hand right now. How many things you've opted into that you've never consumed? It happens. But the reason people opt into it is they're either, either they're looking for that solution and you pop up or they see it and they're enticed and they're like, yeah, this is what I want. Their brain is like very interested at that moment. You want to get the speed from when they opt in to when they can start to consume your content to to be as short as possible. So that's what we wanna do is they look at 'em like, oh, you know, 7 to 10 minutes, I can watch the first one. If it's going really good, they'll watch the second and the third, which brings me to the last point of this. Don't drip your content. Now I'm sure there's people out there that are watching this and they're like, you know what? You're crazy. You gotta drip your content. I am of the belief and knowledge and experience that dripping content for lead magnets like this does not work. Here's why. Like I said, people are the most interested when they are opting in, when they're either searching for your content or they see it show up in their feed and they opt in for it. You want them to watch the first one. Now you've done a great job, you've made a great video, they get to the end, you want them to be able to go to the next one. And then the third one, because if you do it in the right order, you're building that trust and you're helping them out and you've done it all in under 60 minutes. So again, don't drip that content, right? If you're doing nurtures and things, you want to create videos over the series of weeks and months and years. Yes. Drip that content, but the opt-in, give it to them all at once. Very simple. Create your videos. Go to landing page, opt in, flips over to the thank you page that includes video 1, video 2, video 3. You know what? They're adults. If they go and click on video 3 and watch it out of order, that's their problem. That's not yours. But if you clearly say watch video 1, video 2, video 3, they're going to do it that way. Keep it simple. So think about that when you are creating your content. If you're doing videos, this will work for audios as well. If you don't want to be on video, and you know you can teach, you know, if you're in that consulting coaching side of things, you don't need to have the visuals and you don't want to be on camera, just record audio and give them a 3-audio series that's there. Listen to 1, listen to 2, listen to 3. And that's, you know, you don't have to, to necessarily, um, do it that way too. You don't have to have them all on the same page. You could have 3 pages with once they watch the first one, they click next, it goes to the next page. That way they don't get distracted as well. So, so break it up that way and good luck with it. And let me know if you have any questions wherever you're watching this video, whether you're watching it on LinkedIn, YouTube, Instagram, wherever. Put a comment below, reach out to me. I'll answer any questions that you have. And thanks for watching.
